Cool. I'd like to hear his thoughts on this Tila Tequila/Shawne Merriman situation.

Not sure why this is news, I mean, Billy Corgan just went on a brief tour with Dave Navarro where he debuted new Pumpkins tunes that were actually good (no, seriously, I know everyone hates him right now, and Zeitgeist was awful, but the new songs he was doing with Spirits in the Sky are some of the best stuff he has done since Adore or MCIS), and this is newsworthy? What about praising new, good music? All this news entry does is give reason for more people to slam him.

Alright, so why are people jumping on the anti-Corgan wagon again? So he has a site to talk about spirituality. So does Rainn Wilson - soulpancake.com . So let's burn him at the cross too! There is no need for "he's an asshole" comments because he wants to talk openly about God and stuff is there? Do all of you people also stand outside of churches all day long and chuck tomatoes at people as they walk in?

What's so wrong with a website to discuss something as meaningful as spirituality, especially when the web is plastered with superficiality & random meaningless bullshit? The Beatles were also into exploring various forms of spirituality, and I'll bet none of you would be like "Fuck John Lennon".
Apparently readers of Stereogum & Pitchfork tend to be soulless, judgemental dicks.

I dont see anything wrong with this or why people should slam him for it. I dont really see this as news either. Why is there no mention of the recent small club tours with Dave Navarro. I heard the songs on youtube and they were pretty damn good. Crazy cover pink floyds lucifer sam and quicksilver messanger service song long haired lady with crazy, and i mean crazy good dueling guitar solos. Holy sheit billy and dave are awesome guitarists. Seriously give yourself a reality check and listen before you bash.

Good, maybe now he can keep the Jebus praising out of his tunes and make something truly good again.

Also, people aren't suddenly jumping on the Billy bashing bandwagon, they've been doing it since '95. And to be fair, he's given people a lot of reasons to jump on that bandwagon. Still a fan, always will be, I've just stopped paying attention to everything he does or says that isn't about music.

Fair enough about how the bashing has been going on since 1995. I just wish people wouldn't attack him for his personal beliefs. I'm an aetheist, and so when I see his tweets about God I just don't bother reading it. I don't need to go onto the internet and complain about how he loves God. I just don't read it. It doesn't affect me. It won't turn me off of good music because somebody believes in a religion. He has many passions besides music and is a multi-talented thinker I guess you could say. He is trying to reach out to a different audience now in a new medium. Not many musical artists are as adapt at using the internet as a means to build communication and a network. Obviously he will give people reasons to hate him or love him because he is putting opinions out there for us to reflect on and comment on. That's all part of being a celebrity in this world. He is in the spotlight for his music, beliefs, and entrepreneurship. Now what do you say we load up Guitar Hero 5 and have Kurt Cobain as our character play the song "Bullet With Butterfly Wings?"

"billy has a severe personality disorder. He currently has an unhealthy obsession with God and I really have been watching his decent into maddness. He is an abused child turned artist who hasn't matured normally. He has lived an extravagant lifestyle, apparently he has half a billion dollars. Google, billy corgan victorian homes. He lives in a completely surreal world seperate from the rest of us. Impossible to understand where he is coming from. He is incredibly hostile I think he is totally afraid of violence and the murderous rage inside of him forces him into the peace love God manifestation of his persona."

-Billy Corgan psycho-analysis courtesy of my friend... hits it pretty much right on the head.

Bootyfish, your friend was right to say "Impossible to understand where he is coming from," but that kinda invalidates everything else you said, huh?

This new web site of his is starting to feel like billy corgan worship to me.I joined to chat and listen on related issues but I'm starting to sense a vibe of sucking up to this guy.It is becoming so focused on this man rather than on GOD or lets just say spiritualness.I think he is feeding his ego Or they are feeding the beast and creating a monster (by the time it's to late).I get tired of hearing it all go back to him you know.It seems to be for the past week about his love life(.WTF) and they run with- it in the name of what?He also had a lot to say about the parents who were arrested for not seeking medical help for their daughter who in turn died .Well billy believes they should not of been arrested?( because they prayed for her to him that was enough?)it is turning into a soap opera over there at least to me it is.Not everyone agrees with this man and he devotees but I will say 99% of them have brown all over their noses.
PEACE OUT Y'ALL

to all of the commenters rushing to corgan's defense: pause and reflect, for a moment. he is not being bashed for having a spirituality website. having a spirituality website is just fine and dandy. he is being bashed because he is a fucking idiot. go and read the content on the website: the guy sounds like a fucking idiot. even the description on the left sidebar sounds dumb. there are plenty of spiritual people in the world that say interesting and thought-provoking things, because even if you disagree with their brand of faith, they are intelligent and deeply introspective people. billy corgan is not one of those people. he is an asshole. the latest post on this site decries the drama queens of the world and individuals that seek "negative attention". does that description remind you of anybody we know? fuck that. (remember this: http://stereogum.com/archives/billy-corgan-promises-no-more-albums-only-singles-that-nickelback-fans-will-like_040702.html ? or his profanity-filled "what was that song you wrote again oh yeah it was i fuck guys in the ass lol" rant at a fan, or whaever the fuck it was that he said?) type "billy corgan" into the white box at the top right corner of this page, and hit search. you will not be impressed by what you find. the bottom line is that this twit is the last person who should be offering spiritual guidance.

I cannot understand the overall hate of this man. What has he done that's so awful, really? I know it's been stated this has been going on since 1995, but I think that's bullshit, at least on the internet side of things. So these hipsters over at Pitchfork put up a highly hypocritical article on how he's sold, which coming from the gods of indie, I guess it means he has? He had different releases with bonus tracks, apparently the first band do ever have multiple releases with different track lists. Are you fucking serious? Does anyone remember Machina II? Yeah way before Radiohead, but that doesn't get mentioned.

Honestly if you have this much of a problem with the guy how about not subscribing to his twitter feed and websites?

He's been a huge prick to his fans, all while releasing bad music. I think the hate is totally justified. Sure MACHINA was a huge concept, but It was released when the internet wasn't as popular as it was in 2007, so the impact is lessened. Plus, Corgan gave the album away for free because the pumpkins were kaput (for the time) and I assume he just wanted to be finished with them. This is coming from a person who considers Siamese Dream a deset island disc.

I'm not really attacking his personal beliefs BTW, just how he has constantly spit in the face of the pumpkins. Just reading his twitter reveals that the dude has some kooky beliefs, so he has a spiritual website, good for him. I could care less.

I don't see what the point is in bashing Billy. Does everyone like a world full of bashing another? I HIGHLY doubt it. Billy talks shit during shows and by golly gee..everyone thinks it's cool for him to start talking and disrespecting someone else. Everyone laughs, but as you know that is called stage performance for him, but you people walk around on your high horse bashing him. How would you feel if someone was bashing you, or your mother or significant other, or even your child? Probably not so good right? Maybe you should realize that people don't deserve that type of behavior in life and those that bash are part of the problems in this world. There is nothing wrong with being spiritual...it's more of a feeling than listening to someone preach about God. If you feel it great, if you don't..well I'm sorry your eyes and ears must not be open yet..hence the bashing going on..
