Black Lips Escape Police, Indecent Exposure Charge, India In "The Black Lips vs. India: 1-0," the Atlanta garage rockers explain that after "being held by police for indecent exposure during our most rawkus set in Chennai at the Campus Rock Idol showcase," they slipped out an emergency exit then the country rather than deal with the reported "tuberculosis, violence and live maggots" at Chennai's prison. Read about the "cultural clashing shit storm" at MySpace. Needless to say, the tour was canceled.

whoa, this is like the musical version of those d-rated movies where the innocent tourist get arrested because they were too trusty or something...

I wonder why were they charged with "indecent exposure"? they say it was a cultural backlash, so I'm guessing it wasn't that big of a deal.

Because, for the Black Lips it truly is all about the music. (Which is why they have to do staged shenanigans. Fuck local culture and customs! I'm in a BAND, INDIA. A. BAND.)

Stupid Indian police with their slow feet and inability to track Americans "musicians".
