Blitzkrieg Kidz Bop

CBGB's may be dead, but punk rock will never go away. Go-Kart Records is doing their part with the release of Brats On The Beat: Ramones For Kids on 11/21. The album features "kiddified" versions of Ramones songs by the Gabba Gabba Hey Singers, a group of young'uns who sing all the choruses and background parts on twelve contemporary punkers' Ramones covers. A portion of the proceeds go to St Judes Children Hospital.

Tracklist:
01. Blitzkrieg Bop – Jim Lindberg (Pennywise)
02. Rock ‘N’ Roll High School – Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio)
03. California Sun – Brett Anderson (The Donnas)
04. Do You Remember Rock ‘N’ Roll Radio? – Greg Attonito (Bouncing Souls)
05. Suzy Is A Headbanger – Nick Oliveri (ex-Queens Of The Stone Age)
06. Rockaway Beach – Blag Dahlia (The Dwarves)
07. I Just Want To Have Something To Do – Emily Wynne-Hughes (Go Betty Go)
08. Spiderman – Ash Guff (Guff)
09. We Want the Airwaves – Spooney (Gabba Gabba Heys)
10. Sheena Is A Punk Rocker – Josie Cotton
11. Cretin Hop – Tony Reflex (Adolescents)
12. Bop ‘Til You Drop – Jack Grisham (TSOL)

"hey ho, let's go, {mumble) in the back now!"

Echoing the first post. My kids love the Ramones. They also love Devo 1.0. And the Wiggles, too. I find it better to mix in the real stuff with the kids stuff as opposed to kiddie versions of the real thing. My kids love The Plastic Ono Band just as much as the Little Mermaid soundtrack.

All that said, these kiddie Ramones tunes are crap.

Well, it's for a good cause, at least, but I think my two-year-old will stick with the originals. She's a purist.

God, Blag has to be scraping for cash. This is the worst thing I've ever heard come out of someone's mouth.

Do you think that they got a bunch of kids to actually sing punk, or got a bunch of out of work rockers to huff ballons?
/talk amongst yourselves...

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt

It's been some time since we learned Modern Guilt, Beck Hansen's eighth album, would be some sort of psych rock minimalist '60s trip with Danger Mouse. Since then, we've gotten a look at the old-school jazz/Blue Note-style cover art and...
