they were really good on letterman last night. They did postpone their Philly show last night though. Hopefully they are ready to play tonight

I'm sure the club will be awash with ironic t-shirts.

they were great in seattle, too. people almost started "dancing" for a couple songs, others elicited occasional makeout sessions.

their music might have inadvertently incited a purse-nabbing/near-fisticuffs incident. luckily it was broken up by a tough flashlight-wielding female bouncer.

I saw them in Detroit last weekened and they had everyone dancing and making out. It was a great show.

Just got back - really awesome show despite the crowd, which was disappointingly stoic for most of the night. The sound suffered a few times, which is surprising for Bowery, and you could tell Kele's voice was a bit sore, but they gave it their all and broke out all the good stuff (Tulips, This Modern Love, Banquet...) just wish the crowd was feelin it a bit more.

to anyone who has seen them lately: are they selling silent alarm on vinyl at the show?

Seth,

Yes, they did indeed have vinyl at the Bowery. And I loved it - totally Pogo City for me.

They were super. I saw them back in November at the Kniiting Factory, and don't remember them talking or joking around between songs. This time, they seem a lot looser between the songs. Man, I love Kele. I think they said something about coming back to NY to play Webster Hall in May.

I didn't notice Silent Alarm in Vinyl at the Bowery show. They had a 12" single with Tulips, but thats all I saw.

The crowd was into the show where I was, but in general it wasn't the craziness we saw back at Roxy last month. (An open bar will do that).

Also, he did drop a comment about webster hall. I'm glad their coming back, just wish it wasnt there.... but webster was inevitable.

I saw them Tuesday at the Paradise in Boston. The crowd could have been better... 18 year old Indie kids are lame.

they were very good in Boston. i would have liked to hear "compliments," otherwise no complaints about the playlist...nice to hear "The Marshals are Dead" and "Tulips." kele has great stage presence.

I saw them in Toronto, and they were good--same comments as everyone else: too few people dancing. What is with these stoic rockanistas?

On an unrelated note: Andrew Bird was on KCRW recently. Does anyone have any mp3s of the performance? Here's a video:

hey gum, saw the show last night. not bad, not mind-blowing either but a nice solid rock show.

they were funny too, which i wasn't expecting. they played little bits of interpol, the killers and coldplay. and they came onstage to the thumping sounds of 50 cent's "Candy Shop."

good lads...

I saw them in Seattle @ Neumo's. Awesome trifecta of acts with Erase Errata and Mommy and Daddy opening. It was a great night. Got myself some Mommy and Daddy EPs and a green God Bless Bloc Party t-shirt.

I've got a picture of each band playing onstage at my blog (picture quality's not good though, sorry):

I for one have to say I thought the Thursday night show was off the fucking hook - they played loose and fast, the stage banter was fun (ie: "Who paid the most money to be here tonight?" some girl said she paid $200, and kele said "You were robbed, I'm sorry" and gave her his backstage band pass), they played a lot of their EP songs, all of their 'slow jams' and were really tight. Especially the absolutely smoking version of 'The Answer' as their closing number.

I saw them tonight (friday). They didn't play any covers and they said that we (as a crowd) were much better than last night. (I think all the cynical hipsters and reviewers were there last night.)
People were going crazy - they sounded great. Really loud. Really good. Really funny. They also commented on the good sound. And Kele revealed a plan for Webster Hall in June. Someone shouted that Webster Hall sucks, and when Kele asked where they should play the guy said "CBGBs!!" Kele said, "hear that Vice Records? CBGBs." Haha. That will never ever happen.

Are they coming back to North America in May or am I mistaken? Russell said they would when I saw them in Vancouver but I see no evidence of that on their website. I too hate fashionistas who think they're too cool to move/clap/dance/sing along at shows. Then they make one feel self-conscious for doing so. Fuck 'em.
