Blunt Muppet

The Sun reports that James and his freaky-intense beady eyes will make a guest appearance on Sesame Street, proceeding to give children between the ages of 2 and 10 nightmares for the following month. At the taping, he sang "an ode to the triangle, using his love song 'Beautiful' as the backing track," which was immediately named the world's most annoying ode to the triangle.

(Pictoral proof via Spinner and The Sun, respectively.)

Obviously we'll hit you with some video soon. In the meantime, watch this again.

Do monsters make it less wussy?

I'd never realized it before, but Blunt looks kind of like what would happen if John Denver and Beck had a baby.

The mechanics of such a union both fascinate and disgust me.

I think the John Denver association is enhanced by the presence of Muppets.

Maybe I was the only one, but I was just stuck by how pitch-perfect the band's performance is... AND they're playing to an electronic drum track.

I don't think I had ever really listened to "Shiny Happy People" with any sincerity just because the chorus was the only thing memorable and it just clawed at my brain, but now... I have (honestly) reversed my opinion on it.

Can someone please post on Youtube Ben Stiller on Sesame Street? He's dressed in a giant foam swiss cheese wedge and he's singing the song "A Cheese is A Person in Your Neighborhood."

I swear that really once aired on PBS.

Shiny Happy People is one of the greatest REM songs of all time.
REM in a lame attempt to remain credible have disowned it.
It is not on the best of.
Having Kate Pierson sing on it was pop genius.
There are a lot worse REM songs than this.
Daysleeper or E-Bow The Letter anyone?

Sesame Street can make something lame amazingly cool by doing what should in actuality make it even lamer.

Blunt is in a position to make me actually like that song depending on how it turns out.

Philco, you're out of your mind! E-Bow is one of their best songs.

Like most people I got pretty sick of "You're Beautiful" after the first 400 times I had to hear it and never thought about giving the rest of his album a chance, but I did recently catch him live for a taping of Austin City Limits and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I've only made it into four other tapings in my life(Jewel, Garth Brooks, Jack Johnson & Son Volt) and probably would have never tried to even get in if it weren't for the fact that was I just trying to impress this pretty girl who had just moved to Austin and thank god I did because she had a grea time too.
