Bonnaroo 2008 Lineup: Metallica And Pearl Jam, But No Led Zeppelin

After hints and clues, Bonnaroo's 2008 lineup's been announced. They've confirmed Lez Zeppelin, but not Led Zeppelin. Though Robert Plant will show up to shuffle along with Alison Krauss. In their seventh year, Bonnaroo's also bringing the aging thrash of Metallica (along with the younger crush of Mastodon) and the AT&T loving EdVed and his Pearl Jam to the Manchester, TN farm. Jack Johnson's playing this one, too. Break out the greens. Which you'll need to save for Willie "Twin Towers Imploded" Nelson. There are also some big '07 critical and fan faves like M.I.A., Against Me!, and Kanye and '08 upstarts Vampire Weekend. All said, over 100 bands, more than 20 comedians, across 13 stages for four days (June 12-15) ... and, one silent disco. You do the math. Full lineup (as it stands) after the jump.

With both Zach and Kanye in the house, wonder if we'll get a down on the farm "Can't Tell Me Nothing" rehash. As far as the comedians, David Cross is hosting Bonnaroo Late Time Chat About, "an original midnight talk show complete with a house band, comic skits and special guests." Also new in '08: you can also purchase a "commemorative DVD" when you purchase your ticket (will be delivered in 12/08). Tickets on sale Saturday, February 16th, 2008 at 12:00 PM EDT through bonnaroo.com.

NME's saying Led Zeppelin's playing. I'd lol if they misread it as Lez Zeppelin.

Well, if Led Zeppelin is playing, they should tell the Bonnaroo people:

That was a rumor from December. They are not playing Bonnaroo.

Well, now that I see the AP article, I am getting a headache. Why are they not listed on the damn lineup? Ughhh, this is confusing.

It was confirmed by NME who said earlier in the day they were making a major announcement at Midnight.

If they're wrong, then I'll remove this:

Everyones saying this is weak, looks pretty sweet to me. Sure there aren't 500 indie acts to choose from, but jack johnson headline fits perfect for leaving early to see mmj. Can basically see random cool shit or huuuuge headliners that would cost more to see alone than the bonnaroo ticket.

They built it up so heavily that it has to be their fault. It's like, seriously: FUCK YOU NME. Nothing wrong with Pearl Jam et. al., but for them to build it up like this only to be wrong....I mean, how do you fuck that up when you have ALL DAY to confirm it?

I wonder if that is Broken Social Scene or Broken Social Scene presents....

If so, it would be nice to see them all on the same stage again, like Lolla in 2006.

All in all, not a bad lineup. Looking forward to Sigur Ros and MMJ considering a new album will be out by then. MIA, MGMT, Raconteurs, Against Me!, and !!! are always a good time.

I'll be heading south just for MMJ and PJ. Jack Johnson's new album is nowhere near solid enough to pull any kind of headline'n duties. Metallica? Hippies against the kids with long black hair, epic battles across middle Tennessee. That's the only reason I can come up with why the Roo would invite Metallica. Who wants to eat drugs and catch some late-night Chk Chk CHk?!

You fuckers are spoiled. You know how hard it is for someone like me to get to or even afford this shit? Spoiled motherfuckers.

That lineup is awesome. I hate at least half the bands on that list and the lineup is still awesome.

And, listen, I hate Jack Johnson, too. A lot. But there seem to be a few people out there who disagree with me. Just cause you and me want to punch him doesn't mean booking him is a bad idea. You try running a festival of this size and tell me you'd turn down the chance for him to play.

You posers are just going to go out there and stand still. You're supposed to go and have fun and fucking dance, even if you don't like the band. I hate Metallica. But you think I wouldn't be in that mosh pit?

Thesis statement: fuck everybody. =)

Chris, I think you may have some anger issues, guy.

And to respond to your statement, "You're supposed to go and have fun and fucking dance, even if you don't like the band." that would be a definite NO. I'm thinkin, if I don't like the band, then I might not be having fun and dancing. Because if I was having fun and dancing, I'd probably like the band....

Come on guys this is a pretty sweet lineup. All the bands I want to see:
My Morning Jacket
The Raconteurs
Sigur Ros
The Swell Season
Gogol Bordello
BSS
Lupe
Solomon Burke
!!!
Battles
Aimee Mann
fucking Ladytron!
and I'm sure they will add a few others. I mean what do you want that this is missing? My Bloody Valentine? Kevin Shields even admits that they are horrible live. Radiohead? Can't argue with you there, but they have already headlined Bonnaroo. This is going to be sweet.

Every year someone is whining about the line-up and how it is going to suck. Well go fuck ya self. If you can't have fun at this festival, with these bands, then you are lame and I'm glad you won't be there. Who do you want? Puddle of Mudd? Nickleback? Staind? Hinder? How about you go to Buzz fest then. I dare anybody to find a better line up in the united states. I go every year I can and I always hear great music. Maybe some of you need to do some music research, and realize that there are some great bands playing this festival. If you still think it sucks, then try getting a job where you can pick the bands, otherwise- go fuck ya self.

Not too crazy about Jack Johnson or Metallica but other than that looks good.

Screw the people who say Bonnaroo has "sold out." Look past the three headliners it looks like a traditional 'Roo lineup - jam bands and bluegrass.

If you don't like the lineup....BETTER LUCK NEXT YEAR! Go check out heavy D and the boys. Enough of this pussy fart music, metallica isn't what they used to be but they're still some of the most talented musicians out there so i hope a majority go back to their campsite when metallica comes on
