Bonnaroo 2009 Schedule Revealed

thumbnail icon: Bonnaroo 2009 Schedule Revealed

As advertised, Bonnaroo this year is bringing some great comedians and a slate of Phish, Springsteen, and more Phish: The reunited jam icons play a standard headlining set Sunday night (Beasties and Bruce headline Friday and Saturday, respectively), and a late night Friday set advertised as 11-2AM. But if Kanye's time at Bonnaroo has given us anything aside from the durably derogatory "squid brains" zing, it has given us the knowledge that cutoff times don't really matter for stage-closing acts at Bonnaroo. Expect lots of hippie zombies. The big conflicts seem to come Friday: Yeah Yeah Yeahs (4:45PM), Grizzly Bear (5PM), or Santigold (4:45PM)? Enjoy that. And it's a good thing Merriweather is Animal Collective's sunniest set yet, because they're scheduled for 2:45PM that day (overlapping with St. Vincent at 3PM). Byrne and Beasties that night around 8:30 also might be a challenge... Saturday's cluttered around 7PM with Wilco/Elvis Costello/The Decemberists sharing hours, while Sunday's got a Andrew Bird/Okkervil faceoff at 4:30ish and a Neko Case/Band Of Horses one later in the night. Otherwise not too bad. Until you trying to work in the comics.

Here's the full schedule. Click it and it will grow, a lot.

Phoenix is playing a cafe stage for some reason. At the same fucking time as Byrne and Beastie Boys. Shit.

This schedule is almost perfect. I can avoid phish very easily.

Ugh, why on earth do they have Santigold, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Grizzly bear playing at the same time? Kaki King too~

My only real conflict is St vincent vs Animal Collective. Other than that, they're all pretty easy decisions.
Whyyyyyyyyyyyy

St. Vincent's awesome live.

Personally, I probably like Animal Collective's music better, but they don't seem like their show would be that good of a live experience, so I'd definitely prefer St. Vincent.

Grizzly Bear>yeah yeah yeahs>santigold

no brainer there. Santigold sings to backing tracks. YYYs flail around and look "punk" grizzly bear actually plays their instruments and sing.

St. Vincent seems more interesting then DJ MPP set

Is MGMT headlining? They must be because they're playing the last set on Saturday. KEWL BEANS! Control myself! Take only what I need from it! A family of trees wanting! To be haunted!

Do Animal Collective's light towers work in daylight?

It doesn't matter if they have a light show when you're on psychedelic drugs, like many people at Bonnaroo are DEFINITELY NOT on.

I wish I loved Phish. Jesus, I can't imagine how much I'd be looking forward to this weekend if my favorite band was playing THIS MUCH at a festival.

Sadly, I'm not going, but if I were, the BoH/Neko Case conflict would break my heart. And it just doesn't seem like Bonnaroo without MMJ.

Friday and Saturday are conflict cluster-f**ks. Thursday and Sunday, on the other hand, would almost be worth skipping. They should have spread it out a bit.

I can make these decisions fairly easily, but I would still have liked to see the bands that I am missing. BoH is my choice, but i would have loved to see Neko Case, so that sucks. I will see Decemberists b/c I have seen Wilco, but damn, I would love to see Wilco again, so that sucks. Grizzly is an easy choice in my book, but still, you would think they would try to put Hippy Bands against Ind. Bands and so forth...

you know, when the lineup came out a couple months ago or whatever, i thought it looked like a pretty solid, but the schedule just makes the lineup look incredibly weak. And who the hell is this Phish band, anyways?

I know how blog dudes get tickets - but how to kids afford 3 days these days? Amazin' bu nice to see US doing festivals big now.

P.S. did you dudes see Scott Weiland on Jimmy Kimmel? wow. It reminded me of Neil Hamburger - but serious. Curious when S-Gum will pro-claim post 90's lounge the now scene.

so...i live in chicago but lolla's headliners suck some major 80s balls this year whereas i imagine a Phish show on psychedelics would be about as deck as it gets
hmmm...I think this year might demand Bonaroo>Lolla
besides, i can still go to P4K
