Calvin Harris Remixes Passion Pit

thumbnail icon: Calvin Harris Remixes Passion Pit

We're already two solid listens into Passion Pit's debut LP Manners, which means, in promo-cycle terms, it is peak time for the remixes that nobody asked for. Enter the UK's preeminent responsible partyer Calvin Harris, who tries to give the Boston outfit's danceable lead listen "The Reeling" even more dance. The original's stuttering synth gets a little more swing, and Harris staples it to some quasi-funky disco bass (makes sense since he created disco)(woof). According to Calvin's Twitter, it's "banging." For verification purposes:

Compare:

Passion Pit's Manners is out 5/18 in the UK via Columbia and 5/19 in the US via Frenchkiss. Make sure to grab "Moth's Wings."

I guess that's a good tactic to be noticed these days, remixing/covering a brand new artist and riding their wave. The original's still much better suited for booty-shaking, though.

I like the remix better. The original is ok at best. Can't someone come up with some original/different sounding dance music. This is more re-hashed 80"s/90's.

Why are they partying at the Odwalla juice warehouse in Greenpoint? Surprisingly looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.

i am so sick of remixes. can't anybody come up with original music anymore? this is almost as bad as hollywood remaking the same movies over and over without coming out with something new.
