Cast Your Vote For Hillary Clinton's Campaign Song

This post in no way reflects the political views of Stereogum. It merely gives us the opportunity to envision an awesome future in which Hillary Clinton greets her supporters to the sweet sound of Smash Mouth. Mrs. Clinton would like your help in choosing her campaign theme song. Here's what she's debating...

"City of Blinding Lights" - U2
"Suddenly I See" - KT Tunstall
"I'm a Believer" - Smash Mouth
"Get Ready" - The Temptations
"Ready to Run" - Dixie Chicks
"Rock This Country!" - Shania Twain
"Beautiful Day" - U2
"Right Here, Right Now" - Jesus Jones
"I'll Take You There" - The Staple Singers
Hear the tracks and make your selection here. If two U2s and a Jesus ain't doing it for ya, there's space for a write-in (no registration required). We already know she's a big fan of Carly Simon's Into White, guess that doesn't capture her campaign theme well enough. What song better reflects where she's coming from? Of Montreal's "The Past Is A Grotesque Animal"? Or maybe some new Spoon, like "Don't Make Me A Target." Best suggestion gets to pick the next president.

I think Mystikal's "Bouncin' Back" would be a great campaign song for '08, but I don't want to waste it on HC. no way is she winning.

I agree with Jim. Even if she has a great campaign song, she still isn't electable...and that's coming from the mouth of a fellow democrat. I’d pick the Staple Singers or the Temptations, since the only people who seem to vote these days are the older sects, but I know she’s a cheese ball so she’ll pick Jesus Jones or U2.

or, let's foist "Ska Sucks" onto her

as long as her not being electable is a foregone conclusion, let's do propaghandi -- but let's do it right: "stick the fucking flag up your goddamn ass, you sonofabitch". "Head, Chest, or Foot" works okay too.

I think Ted Leo's "Walking To Do" would be a great campaign song, in general. But, like Jim says, don't waste it on Hillary.

Honestly, I'd be more interested to see a list of potential Obama campaign theme songs. Less adult contemporary, more...um...not adult contemporary.

Jarvis Cocker - Cunts are still Running the World

‘Running The World’

Well did you hear there’s a natural order?
Those most deserving will end up with the most,
But the cream cannot help but always rise up to the top,
Well I say, “Shit floats.”

If you thought things had changed,
Friend you’ve gotta think again,
Bluntly put, in the fewest of words…

Cunts are still running the world.
Cunts are still running the world.

Now the working classes are obsolete,
There are surplus to society’s needs,
So let them all kill each other,
And get it made overseas.

That’s the word don’t you know?
From the guys that’s running the show,
Let’s be perfectly clear boys and girls…

Cunts are still running the world.
Cunts are still running the world.

Ah yeah.
Ah yeah.

Oh feed your children on cray fish and lobster tails,
Find a school at the top of the league,
In theory I respect your right to exist,
I will kill ya if you move in next to me.

Ah it stinks, it sucks, it’s anthropologically unjust,
Oh but the takings are read by a third,
Oh so…

Cunts are still running the world.
Cunts are still running the world.
Cunts are still running the world.
Cunts are still running the world.

If you knock it, it’s perfectly natural,
Do you think that I’m some kind of dummy?
It’s the ideal way to order the world,
“Fuck the morals, does it make any money?!”

And if you don’t like it? Then leave.
Or use your right to protest on the streets,
Yeah use your right, but don’t imagine that it’s heard.
Oh no no…

Cunts are still running the world.
Cunts are still running the world.
Cunts are still running the world.
Cunts are still running the world.
Cunts are still running the world.
Cunts are still running the world.
Cunts are still running the world.

my suggestions for a campaign song would be as follows----------

THIS IS MY COUNTRY--HOME OF THE FREE!

I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN BY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

COMMENT IS THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO MEAN IT AND GIVE OUR COUNTRY BACK TO BEING GOVERNED OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, AND FOR THE PEOPLE. I REALLY DON'T SEE THAT HAPPENING TODAY. THE CANDIDATE THAT COULD PROMISE THAT IS THE WINNER!!

I beg your pardon

is the best, why ?, Who can look back, & see the White Water, is why,
Nov.2,2000

I beg your pardon
Oops - Clinton Makes the Case for Bush....

The impeached, disgraced President Clinton, flying to California today to campaign for Democrats after the Gore campaign told him to stay away from key Midwestern states that aren't as loose as La-La Land, inadvertantly gave a boost to George W. Bush.Clinton said in a radio interview that electing Al Gore would be "the next best thing" to a third Clinton term."Enough said. Thank you for making our case," said Bush spokeswoman Karen Hughes. That was when the president was being investigated by Kenneth Starr, then independent prosecutor, in the Whitewater land deal in Arkansas, where Clinton had been governor.

I beg your pardon

Would Bush Pardon Clinton?
It's White House pardon time, and President Clinton is weighing some hot political potatoes. Incoming President Bush has one awaiting him: Should he pardon Clinton?

I beg your pardon

Pardon applications from an intriguing handful of hopefuls reside in the Oval Office in-box, including headliners such as Michael Milken, the former junk-bond king, and Whitewater buddies of the president and first lady. None, though, is of such blockbuster political significance as a theoretically possible pardon of Bill Clinton, after he leaves office Jan. 20, by – and this may be hard to envision – his successor, George W. Bush.
I beg your pardon
The Clinton's
was well on the way to certain impeachment and removal from office for his role in the Watergate burglary and cover-up.
"Would Gore have pardoned Clinton [had Gore won the election]? We'll never know."

I beg your pardon, with all the rose garden...

Would Bush actually pardon Clinton?

and that is why Sen. Hillary Clinton has called criticism on President Bush, from day one, to today... I vote - NO - for Hillary Clinton.
