Casting Couch: The Notorious B.I.G.

Fox Searchlight Pictures is set to bring the dramatic life and times of Christopher Wallace aka the Notorious B.I.G. to the silver screen, calling the biopic Notorious and enlisting B.I.G.'s mom Voletta Wallace as producer. And director George Tillman Jr. (Soul Food, Men Of Honor) is looking for a few good men (or women, why not) to audition for the yet-to-be-cast title role. That could be you! If you've got the stature 'n' flow, submit your audition tapes at biggiecasting.com, and size up the competition thus far at foxsearchlight.com/RUBIG. (Apparently freestyling is part of the audition process -- and apparently, most candidates so far are very not good at freestyling.)

As always, and even though they're looking for an unknown, we figured we'd conduct the informal casting process here and allow Fox Searchlight to cherry pick at their pleasure. Think we have just the person...

Slap that fat suit on R. and fire up the cam! OK, fine. Who you got? Don't say Don Cheadle.

What about that dude that played the prison warden on Lost last season. A few pounds and that guy would look just like him.

Band To Watch: Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band

Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band are a new Seattle quintet with a long name. We've been enjoying their self-released Weepy EP, so we thought we'd post something from it. "Dull Reason"'s a an angular, noodling summertime pop jam with hills...

Quit Your Day Job: The War On Drugs

The War On Drugs play psychedelic, scruffy guitar grit with Dylan-esque (via Tom Petty) overtones and Springsteen anthemics, but a spacier vibe. Their Secretly Canadian debut full-length Wagonwheel Blues is full of spacious jams piloted by the war stories of...
