Casting Couch: Joey Ramone
In a case of life imitating Entourage, FilmForce reports:
The story of the classic punk rock band The Ramones, often referred to as the "Godfathers of Punk," may be coming to the big screen courtesy of producer Rory Rosegarten -- that's according to today's edition of industry insider mag Variety.The film is based on the biography I Slept With Joey Ramone, written by Joey's brother Mickey Leigh. And thankfully, the producer has secured the rights to use the Ramones' music in the film. (Could you imagine a legal-rip of "I Wanna Be Sedated?" Shudder.)
So who do you want to see play Joey? We hear Justin Hawkins is available.

It's gotta be Vinny Chase.

Yeah, Vincent all the way.

I also think V. Chase is the way to go.

correct me if i'm wrong, but 'i wanna be sedated' was used in the movie Carpool starring Tom Arnold. in fact, it was used like 10 times in the movie.

Howard Stern has to play Joey Ramone.
Score = 0
Howard of course

I'm psyched for this. The Ramones are my all time favorite band, and I creamed my pants when Landau suggested the idea on Entourage. Adrien Grenier would make a shitty Joey Ramone though. Get Howard Stern.
Score = 0
Has to be Rolling Stone editor David Fricke.
Score = 0
Lucas Haas!

Howard Stern is the first person I thought of, but isn't he like 50 years old? Howard Stern 20 years ago would have been perfect.

I hope Kutcher is in the running!

they should use unknowns, but knowing the hollywood machine it'll be wahlberg, damon, affleck, and that scott evil fella.
ho hum.

Doesn't much matter who plays Joey. Mickey, his brother wrote the book. The same brother Joey never got along with. The same Mickey that was jealous of Joey's success. I hope,like the book thus far, the thing never sees the light of day.

"On The Road With The Ramones"
http://www.ontheroadwiththeramones.com
This is a MUST-HAVE book for all Ramones fans. It's an inside look from the people who were actually there witnessing and experiencing all the extreme highs and lows of one of rock's greatest bands. The Ramones' music has influenced nearly every power pop, punk, alternative, and metal band. Monte A. Melnick served as The Ramones tour manager from their early New York club days at CBGB's in the '70s to their farewell gigs in 1996. Filled with memorabilia including photographs and interviews collected along the way, this is his view of life on the road with the band as "baby-sitter to psychiatrist, booking agent to travel agent, paymaster to van driver." It's such a fascinating read, you'll have a hard time putting it down. Buy it, read it, and then revisit their albums. You'll never look at the Ramones in the same light.

actor: Lucas Haas should play Joey Ramone because he was in Mars Attacks and he was really good in the movie and he is right for the part and I think he really looks like him and he did a music video for the rock band My Chemical Romance - "Black Parade". Joey wasn't a pretty boy actor like Vinny Chase or the other actors and etc.

this movie shouldn't be made.
bottom line.
i think Joey's life should remain private,
his brother, his mother, whoever, does not have the right to turn his life story into some souped-up Hollywood flick. think Sid and Nancy.
im sure Legs McNeil knows his shit and all, and yes he is a good writer and a good person to go by, but i think the life of Joey Ramone, and the ramones themselves is better left in the books, and on documentaries.
we want to remember Joey as a real person, in a real way. not with a Hollywood bio-pic or whatever it's called.
we don't want a fake Joey Ramone.
personally, and im sure many people will in fact agree with me, Mickey Leigh seems to like the publicity he gets from his brother's passing.
it's not right.
simply not right.
just my opinion, and if you have anything to say about it,
email melonmisfit@hotmail.com
agree or disagree, hey, i don't really care.
