Cat Stevens Forgives Coldplay Don't worry Coldplay, you did copy "Foreigner Suite" with "Viva La Vida" but Yusuf forgives you and -- just to show there's no hard feelings -- you're invited to the Islam's place for some tea. Phew!

Shame he wasn't so forgiving to the Flaming Lips over Fight Test.

so does this mean he forgives joe satriani for copying the same song? i mean, i assume he must've been angry at both of them and not just the more famous of the two, right?

I still would love to see Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens beat the shit out of Joe Satriani.

I don't think he was ever angry. I know you kids like to think everyone is filled with bile, but I read the original statement as a lighthearted observation.
Now he says:
"I stand by what I said," Islam told the Daily Express. "They did copy my song but I don't think they did it on purpose. I have even copied myself without even knowing I have done it. I'll write down what I think is a good melody and realise it's the same as something I have already done.

"I don't want them to think I am angry with them. I'd love to sit down and have a cup of tea with them and let them know it's okay,"

This happens in music all the time. I don't see why anyone would assume its a grudge or something insteadof just read the paragraph's in question and extrapolate some underlying tone.
The guy seemed to be telling a silly anecdote when he first said it and I think he still is just sayig it in a lighthearted way.

i'm not making any assumptions about grudges or getting any kicks out of thinking about anyone's bile. i used the word "angry" to match the overall sarcastic tone of my original comment. all i'm saying is that as silly as his anecdote may be, i think it's pretty lame of him to single out coldplay.

hahaha, i still guess that it's prolly their producer if anyone doing the thieving...BUT anyway, just funny that now logically, Satriani stole it FIRST hahahaha, nice try (to make a cheap buck) 'joe.'
