Cat/fish Raising

No matter how big your WTF file, make room for one more. Thinking about making a gift of a little kitty this holiday season? Whom better to ask for advice than Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson? Wait, don't answer that; just go the band's website for pointers on The Litter Box, Diet, Neutering, and Pet Insurance (via Matablog). Here's a sample:

But, still being a little on the young side to venture forth without its brothers or sisters, your kitten will need extra attention to help settle down in its new kittenenvironment. She/he will be best kept in one room for a few days but will be adventurous enough to soon visit other parts of the house under supervision. Existing pets should be gradually introduced to their new pal (stroke, praise and re-assure both equally) but they should not be left alone together until you are absolutely sure of their reliable behaviour to each other.

Okay, sure, you can answer: From whom would you rather get kitty care advice? We'll accept Chan and Yusuf as valid responses, but really, there's no beating the Tull on this one.

It's weird how you think that just because a person is fun, it's weird that he cares about owning pets.
Everyone has pets. What a shock.

is it just me, or does Ian look like Jesse Ventura in that picture? My dad still holds a grudge with my mom because she didn't let him play "Locomotive Breath" when they walked down the aisle.

Having pets ain't weird! Giving detailed instruction on how to raise them on your band's website is sort of fucked though. But thanks Ian! I didn't know where to go for pet insurance info before. This works out really well! Swell!

Well, the cat thing's not new. If you look inside the Nightcap CD case, you'll notice that it benefits several animal rights charities.

Ian's also been involved in zoo cat rescue for years.

It's an avocation.

Isn't that the same asshole that tried to ruin music for nearly a century by changing copyright law for music to last another 50 years? Which would have locked away many artists music to the point of it most likely being lost.

Yeah, this is bizarre and random, in an almost Monty Python way, but whatever. Go Tull!

random indeed, but that's some good advice.
my cat used to look like that little black one - now he's old and fat.

That is very good cat advice from Ian. He forgot that you can minimize fighting between the new kitten and the other cats if they all smell the same, so you can put a bit of vanilla extract under all their tails, so that they smell familiar to one another.

And yes, I'm a crazy cat lady.

i learned about his crazy cat obsession when i was researching a rare south american wild cat. he's donated tons of money for conservation for this species, and pretty much kept it alive. he shreds it out on flute, fucks over metallica for grammys, and saves endangered animals. dude is dis-proof.
