Celebrity Big Brother Gets Another

NME reports that Towers Of London's Danny Tourette joined the other uncelebrated names in the UK's Celebrity Big Brother homestead:

As he walked into the house, Tourette bared his bum and hurled abuse at viewers.

...

Other contestants on this year's show include Ian H Watkins, ex of Steps, Jo O'Meara formerly of S Club 7, Jermaine Jackson, Ken Russell, Leo Sayer,Cleo Rocos Dirk 'Face' Benedict, Shilpa Shetty, Danielle Lloyd and Carole Malone.

But isn't Towers Of London like two years old? And already on reality TV? The band must be more shit than we thought! At least wait a few years before give you resolve to D-list! Leo Sayer waited 30. Brit readers, care to fill us in? Isn't Celebrity Big Brother where quasi-celebs go to die? Or maybe The Flavor of Jermaine isn't too far on the horizon.

i saw Towers of London open the Reading festival back in August, they played "Freebird" and released 30 city pigeons out over the crowd.

Their reality show went out on a small cable station, so no-one at all saw it.

CBB has revived ailing careers before, and in a righteous world, Towers of London should be as big as GnR - we need more old school rockers like them.

Hilarious, so it is, but lovely to see a rock star (in his head) acting like a rock star for a change (compared to the dullards/bed-wetters from coldplay, keane, and snow patrol) .

As one of the few brits (and a regular commenter) I can fill you in on Celeb BB. Basically, you're right, it is where they go to die. The last celebrity one (this time last year) was won by a girl (Chantelle something) who wasn't even a celebrity, she was planted there to convince the real celebs that she was in a pop band. Pretty clever gimmick really.

Essentially, it's always full of nobodies lookign to raise their profile, with the exception of the first celebrity issue in 2001, which was to raise money for Comic Reliev (Red Nose Day) and was won by the British comedian Jack Dee, who's actually a somebody.

As for this year, I don't recognise anyone besides Dirk Benedict. Towers of who?!

Towers of London's album ("Blood Sweat and Towers" Tee hee) has jumped about 1000 places on Amazon UK since last night - it's now the 237th most popular CD in the UK!

Watch Towers fight a "towny" in the early hours of the morning here:

Amazing clip!

Checking a few message boards last night, it seems everybody already hates his guts - indeed, he got booed *into* the house. Which is fine if you're an unreconstructed post-GnR rock frontman because you can play on the "you all hate us and we don't care!" angle, but not if you're an unreconstructed post-GnR rock frontman on a reality TV show that depends on viewers liking you.

Isn't Shilpa Shetty a Bollywood A-lister? What is she doing in there? And how will she get away with sleeping in the same room as men--isn't that a major Hindu sin-du?

Towers of London's album 'charted' at 85, they've never had a single chart and headline 60 capacity venues.

He's in there and they have had the tv show and blah off the back of the fact that he's the son of the chap from Black Lace, they're rich and being a failed rock star is a lot better then being a failed son of a man who wrote agadoo, which is one of three aceptable things reasons to commit suicide.

One of my friends emailed me this today (based on the girl from S Club [7], but still). Why is this news? No one's blogging about how Vanilla Ice is going to be on that retarded "who's the most famous loser from the Surreal Life" show.

Donny's left the house! He climbed up over the wall last night because he was disgusted at the task set to the housemates: waiting hand and foot on Jermaine Jackson, Shilpa Shetty, Ken Russell, and Jade "famous for being the stupidest person ever on big brother" Goody and her loud and trashy family.
