Drew Barrymore's Favorite Music And Lyrics

When she's not busy writing songs for Jenny Lewis, you'll find darling Drew locked away, iPod on repeat, getting inspired. She recently shared her top tracks with an iTunes Celebrity Playlist, and hey, it's not bad! PB&J's "Young Folks," as expected ("I went and saw them live and the song sounded fantastic!"), Spank Rock 'cause it's the cool thing to do, Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah, Kings Of Leon -- and definitely no Strokes. Here's her list, peppered with her patented smiley-faced gushing.

1. "These Days" - Nico
"The song speaks for itself. It is so beautiful and puts you into an immediate mood."

2. "Children Of The Revolution" - Elton John, Ringo Starr & T.Rex
"I have always loved T.Rex! This song feels like a spirited anthem."

3. "Starlight" - Muse
"This whole album was always playing in '96 for me. This track drives me crazy!"

4. "The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teeth" - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
"Again, this whole album is terrific. But this song makes me dance on the pavement when I am walking with my iPod."

5. "Y Control" - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
"Another song that such a great mood to it. Sad. Sexy. Soulful"

6. "Young Folks" - Peter Bjorn & John "This is my favorite song right now. I went and saw them live and the song sounded fantastic! Listen and enjoy!"

7. "The Bucket" - Kings Of Leon
"The Kings are the coolest. They are great guys who make great music with an original sound. This song lifts my heart."

8. "Bump" - Spank Rock
"I got turned on to this album and I love the way Amanda Blank raps on it."

9. "Girl" - Beck
"I have been a Beck fan from the very start. He can do so many musical styles and pull them all off. He had to be on the playlist."

10. "Fidelity" - Regina Spektor
"I have seen Regina perform for years. Her latest album is a triumph. The song is absolutely special, just like she is."

11. "Rabbit Fur Coat" - Jenny Lewis
"The first time I heard this song I was dumbfounded. Then the whole album became my staple for the last two years! She rules!"

12. "Mozzarella Swastikas" - Adam Green
"Adam Green is a unique poetic creature. His lyrics are filled with smart funny wonders that I just love."

13. "Transit" - Har Mar Superstar
"This is my friend Sean. I picture an elaborate musical number in my mind when I hear it! I love this song!"

Good taste. But who knew she was friends with Har Mar Superstar? Then again, she did marry Tom Green.

As mediocre as Barrymore might be, good call with the most accessible song off the CYHSY s/t.

I read in the Entertainment Weekly this week that her favorite "weird" moment of her life was when dancing in a rabbit costume on stage with the Flaming Lips.

The Adam Green song she likes contains the lyrics, "I'll be getting head under the rainbow." Good for her!

Kings of Leon original?

I enjoy KoL, I think they're a pretty great band, but original they ain't. Apparently Drew never listened to music until sometime after the 1970s

Starlight has become Muse's highest charting song in the US (#3 on Modern Rock).
