Al Franken's iPod
iTunes's collection of Celebrity Playlists (which gets a shoutout in the new Entertainment Weekly Must List) is worth checking every now and again. Al Franken's picks indicates the left-wing pundit stopped listening to new music in the early '80s. But at least he put some thought into it.
Creedence Clearwater Revival "Fortunate Son"Still not as funny as Jennifer Garner's though.
"I like it 'cause I saw it on a jeans ad."Elton John "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues"
"It's his most heterosexual song."James Taylor "Sweet Baby James"
"I like songs with beautiful melodies. For example, I'm not a hip-hop fan."

I thought the Gorillaz's playlist was pretty decent. At least when you have Damon Albarn being made fun of by his own alter-ego. But again, not as funny as Jennifer Garner's playlist.
p.s. Props for Picaresque rocking your ipod this week, Scott. It's been rocking mine for quite some time now.

I'm sure Mr. Gum has excellent insider connections due both to the blog and his place of employment, but it doesn't take special access to have a copy of Illinois right now. Asthmatic Kitty has been accepting pre-orders for a couple of months, and started shipping copies of the disc on June 3rd or so to people who had ordered off the site. Order one right now and you'll still be able to get your hands on a copy before the "official" release date.

loveanddeath does not have a credit card [because, loveanddeath is currently unemployed], hence, no ordering off the net :( but thanks for the tip. *Sigh...I shall have to wait another three weeks.
