Chuck Klosterman Reviews Chinese Democracy

April Fool's Day comes a day early at spin.com. "If you purchased a kitten on the day that Use Your Illusion I & II arrived in stores, it's probably dead by now."

You can tell when they quote: "Your singer has cocaine eyes and a skeletonized trance / We'll see if RCA recoups their advance." Axl's never written a lyric that awesome in his life.

I think the "April 1, 2006" under the byline gave it away.

That's total bullshit. My cat's still alive and rockin' out to "You Could Be Mine".

Is it just me, or is that article too Chuck-like to be written by Chuck? (If that made any sense...)

I thought the April Fool's joke was that Spin and Spin.com are still around.

Love reading anything Klosterman. Anyone see that he's titling his books like Chicago albums now (amazon has his August 2006 release listed as "Chuck Klosterman IV")?

This review has been up for several days, which is why it originally confused the shit out of me. I mean, those first few paragraphs sound like Klosterman started out doing a real review then said "fuck it" and started to make shit up. Which is his M.O. anyway.

Hearing the buzz build, I actually listened to these tracks of their Boston show first, before buying the record, which I shortly thereafter did. They sound great - wish I could have made a show n NYC.
