Clell Tickle: Indie Marketing Guru

This explains a lot.

Featuring your favorite Human Giants (Aziz Ansari, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel) and cameos from Fred Armisen, Rob Riggle, Tapes 'n Tapes, Ted Leo, Devendra Banhart, and Nick Kroll as the bullied Pitchfork editor reading XLR8R on the toilet. Directed by Jason Woliner.

Consider this the unofficial sequel to Indie Clerk Assholes.

Eh. This shit is so self-aware it's become what it aims to make fun of. Or something.

Here's the formula:

Aziz + other mildly funny comedians + musicians who think they're funny = Internet meme

Jealous losers. Aziz is the fucking man. If you don't think the line, "convicted child arsonist" is funny then go back to watching Blue Collar Comedy or Dane Cook or whatever awful crap you like.

I love the part at the end when Pitchfork delcares TNT "The best band in the world!" and still does NOT give it a 10.0. Amazing.

Nick Kroll's face is quite possibly the most disturbing thing I've ever seen. He's also so not funny.

"convicted child arsonist" is pretty funny on its own, but having the agent point it out, you know, just in case you didn't get how clever they are... that ruins the joke.

Weak.

Hey, drew, you just used "the man" in a serious context to describe a comedian. I suspect you're probably a bigger Dane Cook fan than you want anyone to know.

i thought it was pretty funny. but then again i usually find any video including ted leo to be automatically not a waste of time.

"If bands had cocks their cock would be giant."

"If you don't have a dog I will injure the weakest member of your family."

How are those two lines not hilarious?

Aziz Ansari really is not funny at all. "If you don't have a dog I will injure the weakest member of your family" sounds like a line that's already been used by Will Ferrell.

I loved it; but I am curious, if you did not find that funny, what do you find funny? Seriously, I like talking to rock snobs because they recommend something better. If that wasn't funny what is?

Amy Poehler did a sketch for UCB about this boho-goth girl in a coffee shop trying to get people to want to read her diary, and then she would read it aloud in a dramatic voice, exasperated that everyone was so nosey about it (which they weren't). That's pretty much the funniest sketch in the history of all time sketch comedy. So that's funny.

But that clip was funny too, so everyone: shut up.

its not that this isnt funny... but the moment i saw the youtube still of aziz, i just thought to myself "a mockumentary about indie rock"..its just getting tired.

did anybody see the thing he did for the plug awards? pretty much the same thing.

It was funny, but I agree with teen fun night that the explaining the child arsonist joke is so obvious. If we're watching the video, we're smart enough to get it first time around.

Ok. I just watched this with the sound muted and I found it to be funny (when homie is reading XLR8R on the can) with no shame in my game. Reading all this commentary, If the video (with audio) stood any chance of being funny it definitely is going to suck now that we've all analyzed the shiznit out of it. When did it become not ok to use the term THE MAN when talking about comedians?

I thought the explanation of the "child arsonist" line was funnier than the line itself. It's all in the expert delivery.

did aziz find out about columbian neckties from reading the liner notes to Songs About Fucking?

The stuff is pretty funnier, even for a person like me who has no idea what XLR8R is and why it is funny for someone to be reading such while on the can... Colombian Necktie is an excellent name for a band. As is Child Arsonist...

Am I the only one who finds Amy Poehler annoying and not that funny? SNL would be about %50 percent funnier if Tina Fey did Weekend Update on her own. She is nice to look at, albeit from the neck down. When Scarlett Johannson hosted they did a bit during the monologue wherein they were both wearing the same dress, and Poehler actually had the better body. Go figure (no pun intended, heh). Same with Rob Riggle and the other guy, but they're not very nice to look at. Upright Citizens Brigade was fairly funny. A lot funnier than Best Week Ever, that's for sure. The sketch where the guy thought he was an astronaut or something and the other told him it was a dream and he'd been raping him in his basement... You won't see that on SNL.

Prettier funnier? I've had too much coffee... and too much methanphetamine. I'm in the Midwest, what do you expect?

I like how they bleep fuck but they don't bleep cock. Maybe a bleeped fuck is genuinely funny. I dunno.

For the record, Amy Poehler being unfunny on SNL has nothing to do with herself, it has to do with the absense of Matt Walsh and Matt Besser.

Wasn't Matt Walsh a writer on SNL for a few years? I remember seeing him on there when they'd do the thing where "audience members" would ask the host questions.
