For Thursday, I recommend you guys check out The Lashes, who'll be playing at The Knitting Factory. They just released an EP on Lookout!

It's awesome to have to send some Seattle flavor out to you guys in NY.

ARCADE FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just got back from the mercury lounge. No contest, arcade fire over the wrens. The Wrens are really great (in that defiantly geriatric way), but these kids are FREAKIN MANIACS onstage. they meticulously setup 35 different instruments and proceeded to rampage for 45 minutes while constantly switching the instruments between themselves and dancing into each other violently. And something about a piano falling out of a uhaul. I for one, welcome our new canadian overlords.

arcade fire is playing NYC the same night as interpol in nov. i forget the venue.....bowery maybe? also, i highly recommend two CMJ shows on friday: first, at 9:30 at bowery, an LA band called "AUTOLUX". imagine my bloody valentine. but possibly better (gasp!). also, at midnight on saturday, "DEAR LEADER" is playing don hill's. definitely worth checking out. here's a link to the new single off their upcoming album: http://media.prod4ever.com/dltrax/rrplayer.html

Don't you guys get sick of having cool stuff to do all night long? You should really stay home and check out the new season of Yes, Dear than get to bed early.

having seen arcade fire twice (both at the knitting factory) an the wrens twice (also both at the knit), I decided to go see magnolia electric company at the coral room. I'd seen them last summer, when they played the knit with the wrens opening, and they were amazing. last night was even better-- Jason Molina is kind of like what Will Oldham might be if he played plugged in with Crazy Horse. It was absolutely fucking incredible.

I second Aulolux. I think they're playing saturday, though.

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Premature Evaluation: Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul

Pushing Noel off a stage in Toronto might bruise the erstwhile Oasis mouthpiece's ribs (maybe even his spirits) and cause the band to cancel a show or two, but nothing can stop the slow procession toward a new Oasis album....
