If you're thinking about going...GO! went last year and had 'the time of my life!'
tis' a festival experience that i doubt you would get anywhere else in the world...well maybe with the exception of Glastonbury but i've never been to compare.

i agree, this seems like a real drop from last year's in terms of excitement... kind of glad i didn't buy the presale weekend tickts because i'm not dying to attend any of the shows on the second day

Promoter was interviewed on KROQ this morning and said they were adding additional bands, and that the final numbers were likely to be 40-45 acts each day. By my count, we're at 32 and 37 tight now, so we are due for probably 10 or so more names. Gimme Strokes, Hold Steady and The Rub DJ's in a tent after they hose the trance off.

Coachella blew its load with THE PIXIES opening up for RADIOHEAD. Flaming Lips and the Cure ain't bad either. Still, Depeche Mode is better than Coldplay. But Tool? Weird.

Yeah, they won't get another 2004 any time soon.

By FAR, the best festival in the US. Another great lineup. For the haters - if this lineup bores you, then clearly you are not interested in current music or are just stating the hipster mating call of the day before 2pm. complain complain complain

Tool? seriously? i'm disappointed. everyone, with the exception of the headliners, looks great though.

i'm curious how Sigur Ros will work out in a festival setting like that though.

It sounds alright, I think Bonaroo may actually have a better line up, but we'll see, I do know that I will go to atleast one of them...

The funny/painful thing about Coachella is that its only possible to see 20% of the lineup at BEST. With 5 stages going at once, do the math. Once the schedule comes out the planning begins!

All of the bands here that are worth seeing are not necessarily worth seeing in the blazing heat while some techo thump thumps through the tent. These headliners are so dull. No way I am paying $200 for it.

whoever said the complainers don't like "current music" is wrong. more like "hype" music. while a lot of these bands are pretty good, i'd be surprised if a lot of them stayed around for another 2-3 year, i.e. editors. they do have a couple modern bands that *are* good, like metric, YYY, ss* and bloc party, but there are no heavyweights.

tool is great and their live show is awesome and there are going to be a ton of kids psyched to see them (since they've been dormant for a while), and depeche mode are alright, but i mean, these aren't *BIG* names like radiohead or the pixies or the cure or the flaming lips.

i'm really disappointed in this line up.

'04 was the grandaddy of all line-ups, and will continue to be until the (oft-rumoured, as in rumoured-every-year) Smiths reunion.

Seriously, I can't wait to tell my grandkids that I witnessed, first hand, Wayne Coyne leaping into a huge crowd whilst sealed in a hermetic bubble. I was flabbergasted.

having to put up with tool fans? If it wasn't for maynard playing the first coachella as both A Perfect Circle and Tool there would be no more coachella. Watch those glass houses of yours. At least Tool fans are there to see the show and enjoy it, not just say they saw them "before they went to the webster".

i agree with kiteless. fuck everyone who gives tool shit, people forget rage and tool started off coachella and just because it is against everyone's hipster sensibilities doesn't mean it won't be a great show.

Doodz, the heat don't matter, the sweaty hipsters don't matter, the bands you DON'T like don't matter. Coachella is just a great experience. The promoters obviously care about their customers, they strive to put together a great line-up (whatever happens with this year's lineup, it will still be THE concert to see in the US this summer, hands down, eff Bonnaroo), everything is clean + efficient, and everybody is just so damn nice. Hell, the heat wasn't even that bad last year, it was downright windy by the time Wilco hit and freezing by the time Spoon finished.

I've been for four years. Can't go this year, I'm on my honeymoon, but if I could, I'd do it in a heartbeat. It's just good shit, and great summer concert-going. If you live in Cally, and you love music, you need to go, no question.

not the breastest of line ups, but still, you know, its a fun weekend to have.

go out on a friday, hang out, go to the outlet mall, go to saturday. maybe go on sunday or just cruise in when your band is about to play. thats what i did when i went, although i did miss the broken social scene and i've been beating myself up ever since that.

p.s any gig/show with more than 27 people at it is inevitably rubbish; so sack off coachella!
