Coachella Lands A Prince
Yes, the Purple One's been added as a Saturday (4/26) headliner, which means we might finally get to see that guitar phallus up close and in person! Unfortunately, he hasn't replaced Jack Johnson. That's all cool, though. When you consider Prince is joining the Breeders, Portishead, MMJ, Kraftwerk, and Roger Waters, it looks like an already strong Coachella's inching closer to Lollapalooza '08 as our favorite festival of the summer. They even have a swank new poster. Way to announce this after the Lolla buzz ran around, GoldenVoice. Who knows, maybe All Points West will get a similar such blockbuster 11th hour addition. We'll let you know.

Suck it Lollapalooza!
Your best acts are all recent Coachella leftovers!
APW is weak.
I talked as much shit as anyone when the originoo Coachella lineup was released but I now stand corrected.
Strongest, most unique American festival. NO QUESTION!

This is amazing news. If you've never seen Prince perform live, you are in for a treat.
An even bigger treat for those in Los Angeles tonight:
Prince is playing a jazz set at The Green Room (1429 Ivar Street, LA, CA 90028).
Tickets are $200 per person.
Admittedly, this is serious chunk-o-change. But it's istill less expensive than that meandering ,ambient NIN box set people paid money for.

Errrrr...
That's Green Door; not Green Room.

....except sasquatch! will be the best festival this summer

"All excited, don't know why
maybe it's 'cause...we're all gonna die!"
Now let's punch a higher floor!

I'm gonna have to agree completely with Pedro on this one. Coachella is now BY FAR the best festival in America, this year, and every year. Lollapallooza has a strong line-up and has a few great rock acts thats Coachella is lacking like Wilco and Broken social Scene, and Sasquatch has the same- Destroyer, Beirut, The Cure, Flaming LIps -- however- noone comes close to coachella in overall diversity and amount of worldwide epic bands. Every French DJ worth seeing is at Coachella, all the British Hipster, AND good rock music! ya!

So, just because Coachella adds Prince - they're all of a sudden forgiven for booking Jack Johnson & Roger Waters (yeah, that show's going to suck too - face it.)? Lollapalooza still has a much more solid set of headliners than all the rest. They tried harder over at C3, plain and simple.

I'm glad to see our festivals getting better, but nothing here compares to the Glastonbury Festival in England. Now THAT'S a FESTIVAL. Words can't describe that experience.

Cherry picking festival headliners that everyone enjoyed over the past few years isn't exactly trying hard. A fool could have constructed as good of a lineup as Lollapalooza's. It's a good lineup, you can't take that away from it, but it's far from impressive. Bonnaroo or Sasquatch could pull a carbon copy lineup out of their ass next year, and everyone would be all over them as the far gone festival "winner" of the year. Coachella seems to at least have the balls to try and be something each year other than "that gathering where the bands you like all appear." I'm not a Roger Waters fan, nor a Pink Floyd fan, but it'll be something to check out. Hell, I'll probably watch a Jack Johnson song or two just to see what kind of stage show they can build around the bro' and his guitar. But you can't deny the awesomeness behind having Prince, Portishead, the Verve, Aphex Twin and Kraftwerk on a lineup.

Coachella consistently has the best bookings each year...hands down! The rest of the festivals are always playing "catch up". Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and Rage Against The Machine have all already played Coachella. Lolla has a good line-up but it was so predictable.

Yes, Coachella does have the biggest line up and the most famous names. The problem with Coachella is its success is killing it. it is becoming too main stream and way over commercialized. A damn shame.

This is cool. Looks like we've got some great music festivals this year! Not sure why Jack Johnson keeps showing up though!
By the way, I'm doing a survey on digital music for a class at MIT. I'm giving $5 free credit on Amie Street to anyone who fills it. Check it out at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=K9zfdPbYagqlxxoUqPWZ6Q_3d_3d
