Coachella: Saturday's Sets To See
Yesterday we pinballed between stages and tents to catch a whopping twelve sets (hello, Guinness). Today we plan to see a lot of music again, though when the sun starts setting, we'll be planting ourselves at the Coachella Stage for the quadruple threat of Death Cab For Cutie/Kraftwerk/Portishead/Prince. That's diverse. Before we dig in, there will be some roaming in the sun. In the early afternoon, Honus Honus and his merry Man Man hit the Mojave tent at 2:30, but don't worry they'll be wearing all white so no heat stroke there. We're gonna chase the Philly troupe's freak-pop with the more worldly sounds of DeVotchKa at 3:35, which means we won't have time to pretend with MGMT. Hope there's no hard electric feelings, guys. You can also check out Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks litter the Outdoor Stage with his Real Emotional Trash (more puns!), although that will mean missing St. Vincent (we saw her rocking out sidestage to Sharon Jones, along with Black Mountain, so that may just be the closest we come).
Then there's a fork in the road. Are you gonna engage in some Sahara/Mojave hopping for the Hot Chip/Islands/M.I.A./Animal Collective spread? Or rather are you a fan of once in a lifetime single-stage billings? Obviously we're pointing to Death Cab-->Kraftwerk-->Portishead being too fit to miss, but hey if you go the more 2007/2008 route, tell Avey we said happy birthday (he just turned 29!). Also you may just have a few minutes to make it from Kraftwerk to Mark Ronson at the Outdoor Theatre and not miss out on any Dummy action, but seriously, just pitch a blanket, sit down, and enjoy.
It all ends with the Prince vs. Enter Shikari showdown, but if you read that less as a joke and more as an actual "showdown," please stop reading this blog now. As always, Blue Room's got the streaming goods for those who prefer home air conditioning. Here's today's sched:

I'll probably be perceived as an asshole for saying this (especially since I'm not there), but I'm not all that crazy about saturday's lineup at Coachella.

I'm waiting for Animal Collective to come on at the AT&T Blue Room site and Rosanna Arquette is doing interviews with a few bands and she is terrible.
I like her vibe and all. She's like your friend's old burnt out hippie mom but she asks terrible questions--- a lot of yes/no questions that go nowhere.
Rosanna sweetie, put down the microphone, take off your shoes, drop some brown acid and enjoy the music.
Just sayin'.
