Coachella: Sunday's Sets To See

thumbnail icon: Coachella: Sunday's Sets To See

At a forecasted 103º, today's gonna be the hottest day yet, kids, so maybe we should all sleep in a little. Unless you want to see Perry Farrell solo. The first set worth our perspiration is coming from I'm From Barcelona, mainly because we're curious to know if they can fit everyone on the Mojave stage (but also because we like Swedish twee-pop). Fellow Swede, the Field, canceled due to visa issues -- sad news but at least it clears the, uh, field a little. Plenty of opportunity for the nostalgia lovers again: Swervedriver and Spirtualized have abutting sets at the Mojave starting at 5:05, Love & Rockets play a bit later at the Outdoor Theatre, and Roger Waters hits the main stage at 8:30PM with magnum opus Dark Side Of The Moon (see ya there, Ben!). Booka Shade killed it with a midnight set at Roskilde '07 -- here, they're on at 5PM, which seems weird. And after last year's massively packed triumph, expect a huge crowd at Gogol Bordello's 5:30 set this year, too.

The set we're most amped for today comes when Jim James and MMJ get sec walkin' over at the main stage. And good job Coachella, these are some nice fest-closing options: end it all at the Sahara Tent for the sure-to-be-bonkers dance fest of Simian Mobile Disco, Chromeo, and Justice (9PM-???, so you know it'll be a party), or veer off toward the Mojave for Black Mountain at 10:15PM. Sorta depends on your drugs of choice. Oh and, if anyone makes it to both of Sean Penn's sets, you get a gold star. We hope he plays the jams circa Fast Times At Ridgemeont High, the new stuff's just so preachy. If you can't be here, Blue Room's got you covered with streaming sets. Here's the sched:
