Colin Meloy On Air America

At 8:30 EST, the Decemberist joins Janeane Garofalo and Sam Seder on The Majority Report. Hear Colin call Lynndie England a "picaroon" (not really) and share his admiration for the First Lady's one-liners. In the meantime, here's Mr. Meloy indulging in his Moz fetish.

Colin Meloy - "I've Changed My Plea To Guilty" (MP3 link removed)

Decemberists tourdates here. Stereogum will be sweating with the masses in Central Park when the band hits Summerstage with Death Cab and Stars. KRS informs us that new Decemberists goodies will stream at npr.org starting Friday.

You might be an indie-yuppie if you found this post exciting.

Okay. Laura Bush? NOT FUNNY. Er, that is, people who wrote Laura Bush's speech? NOT FUNNY. Cedric the Entertainer's presence? WHAT THE FUCK?

A slight bile aftertaste lingers from that Bush reference, but this was just glorious. Thanks.

Decemberists + Petra Haden + Okkervil River opening + crowd participation on "Mariner's Revenge Song" = LOVE.

Actually I'm more excited that Janeane has abandoned the red lipstick.

Ugh. I can't believe there was a time whan I thought Janeane Garofalo was attractive. She looks absolutely horrid. I guess the drugs are starting to catch up. And what is this Air America? Sounds sorta familiar, but I thougt it went out of business months ago. I guess Al Frankens bright, shining star is working wonders....

Wow, that's a lame photo. But then I'm not so much with the indie-yuppie love, or even tolerance. I kind of miss Janeane's candy-coated blonde freakout period.

I love Janeane. Love Majority Report. Respect Meloy. But I sure do want to kick his ass for some reason. I'm sure he's a wonderful human being, but he just oozes condescension.

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt

It's been some time since we learned Modern Guilt, Beck Hansen's eighth album, would be some sort of psych rock minimalist '60s trip with Danger Mouse. Since then, we've gotten a look at the old-school jazz/Blue Note-style cover art and...
