Santi White For Bud Light, Santogold Album Art

There's the "L.E.S. Artistes" video, and there's been plenty of chances to catch her live, but for the Santogold fan with that deep down and unquenchable thirst, this "Creator"'s for you. MTV can't seem to wrap their mind around why she'd do it. We're thinking it might have to do with the fact that despite the year of leaks and love, her album still isn't out for another few weeks ... and to paraphrase David Cross, even Santogold can't pay rent with indie hipster cred.

Santogold is out in the US on 4/29 via Downtown, and 5/12 in the UK via Atlantic. We are psyched. An img of Santi vomiting glitter awaits you.

funny that MTV would wonder why this happens. perhaps because MTV (along with most mainstream terrestial radio) stopped exposing people to quality new music more than a decade ago (if not longer, argue amongst yourselves). silly commercials between eps of Rob & Big don't count.

seriously, is this even an issue any more? if you want to get your music to the peeps, you can no longer rely on the old methods. now that everyone has their own playlist and blog, getting enough people to hear your music, to even begin to create any consensus, much less fanbase is almost impossible. good for her for making a buck and getting her music beyond the blogosphere.

and yes, she is awesome.

Band To Watch: Hospital Ships

As we pass saturation point for press coverage of Montreal, Portland, Brooklyn and et cetera, it seems Lawrence, Kansas is poised for its coming turn in the music media trend piece carousel. At least from what we're hearing; this marks...

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

The Bergen trio Ungdomskulen play proggy post punk, mixing chops and hooks with a sense of humor. But they don't sound like Primus. When I was in Norway a couple years ago, "Ungdomskulen" seemed to be on everybody's lips (or...

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt

It's been some time since we learned Modern Guilt, Beck Hansen's eighth album, would be some sort of psych rock minimalist '60s trip with Danger Mouse. Since then, we've gotten a look at the old-school jazz/Blue Note-style cover art and...
