Bonnaroo: It's A (Photo) Wrap

The tents are collapsed, the recycling collected, the hippies headed to the showers (j/k hippies don't take showers). Bonnaroo '08 now belongs to the chemically enhanced memories of its campers, and to message boards worldwide as people bitch about Kanye's ego. Consider this the scroll-y cork in our coverage of the fest for this year. Herein you shall find .jpgs of the Fiery Furnaces, M.I.A., the Raconteurs, Tegan & Sara, Alison Krauss & Robert Plant, and more. Final thoughts: There are rumors that Maya announced she was retiring after Friday's typically bonkers tent set. Sure she said "This is my last show ever!" -- but she was just kidding, she'll be back. I know this because she said "just kidding, I'll be back." So, NME.com -- no. The Fiery Furnaces were particularly great. As were the cardboard cutouts of Eleanor's glam Converse photo crowdsurfing during "My Dog Was Lost But Now He's Found." The Raconteurs continue to impress with their "screw supergroup, we're a legitimate band"-standing. Alison Krauss & Robert Plant strutted, smoldered, and pursed their lips through a great set that made it seem like they've been playing together for years. And "Black Dog" was too much awesome. I want Robert Plant to be my granddad.

In case you weren't on the internet this weekend, here's a link list to lots more words and photos:

That's all from TN, guys. Big thanks to Abbey Braden for making this post fatter with ace shots (of Vampire Weekend, Drive-By Truckers, Adele, and José González), to Ken and Chris and the good folks at Big Hassle, and of course to you, Bonnaroo. You were great this year. I had a blast. Hope you guys got a little feel for it here. Now, get your scroll on.

Any more pics of the bassist from Krauss & Plant? I could use about 20 more of those...

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...
