Coachella: Peter Bjorn & John Rocked The Mojave Tent, Make Funny Faces
After the ubiquity of "Young Folks," a comprehensive sweep of NYC shows, and the indefatigable insistence of the Asian Riff, we sorta figured we'd had our fill of PB&J. But yesterday's set at the Mojave tent was simply irresistible, the Swedes pleasing the cramped crowd with Writer's Block faves "Amsterdam" (Bjorn remembered the lyrics this time), the heart-warming sing along "Paris 2004," and a jaunty romp through "Let's Call It Off." No secret which tune the young folks were waiting for all set long, of course, and the tent erupted in welcome of the Shout Out Louds’ Bebban Stenborg who pinch-hit for Concretes' Victoria Bergsman.

If you haven't seen 'em in awhile, Bjorn still attempts small talk with complete disregard for has lack of English proficiency, John's harmonies are ace as always, and Peter's versatile guitar playing grows with each two-legged leap. And, he and Bjorn are still total hams.

Writer's Block faves "Amsterdam" (Bjorn remembered the lyrics this time), the heart-warming sing along "Amsterdam,"
What?

oh that meant to say "Paris 2004"! but you could say "Amsterdam" was equally singalongable. fixed!

the broken english was funny. but correction, Hot Chip rocked that Mohave tent, right before.
it was also funny to watch everyone flock to the tent when Young Folks came on. and then leave directly after, i felt bad.

It looks like Bebban from Shout Out Louds.

You're right Todd!

It's an easy mistake, Bebban sounds a lot like her... there's a song on the new SoLs album ("Impossible"), which Bjorn produced btw, where you might swear it was Victoria singing. But it's Bebban... unless anyone knows different.

Bebban showed up to one of the Coachella afterparties at the Frank Sinatra Estate. It wasn't her scene at all. She said she rather be hanging out at Bjorn's Studio back home. She was also constantly hit upon by Spank Rock and Bjorn was taking drunken camera photos. No Joke.

I was there too, she looked totally intimidated and was kinda hiding out in a big baseball jacket but then I heard her tell some coked up guy who kept trying to grab her off in the most amazing way, that girl is fucking awesome. I think Bjorn was djing or something, got some drunken photos of him too. Aah those swedes...

yeah, it was kinda sad how half the tent cleared out after young folks, especially considering how much of a pain in the ass it was to get -into- that crowd for a good spot.

As lame as it was that so many people fled after "Young Folks", I was sort of happy for a little extra space to enjoy "Objects of My Affection", which is hands-down the best track on the album. Yes, I wanted to slap the hit-seekers for skipping it, but a tiny bit less crowdedness was my gain and their loss.
