Kevin Drew/Feist @ La Cigale, Paris, France 10/8/07
You read that city right. Boss man Scott is blogging abroad this week, pointing out the Stereostaff's typos on a locally envied, but ultimately impractical iPhone. Last night he hit up La Cigale dans le 18ème arrondissement de Paris, where Chilly Gonzalez joined Feist for the first of two sold-out shows. BF Kevin Drew opened with politely received BSS and Spirit If... tunes. Mademoiselle Feist kicked off her enchanting set with "When I Was A Young Girl" and effortlessly drew out the crowd's inner chanteuse with The Reminder faves "The Limit To Your Love" and "My Moon My Man," lovingly captured for posterity via the magic of cross-Atlantic WIFI...
"WHEN I WAS A YOUNG GIRL"
"MY MOON MY MAN"
So lovely. Yes, yes, we know you adored her way back in the Bitch Lap Lap days. Video of Mr. Drew's set TK (UPDATE: video below), but FYI he dedicated the first song to Leslie. Aww. Feist put those familiar glittery arm warmers on her mic stands, so that's why they look like they do in the photos. Enjoy the pictorial platter below, complete with red-eye.

The advantage of being a Canadian songstress--the bilingual shows. Although, I don't think Céline Dion made such a classic impression.
FEIST, rules! (sigh) Wish I could have been there.

Ah, Feist. Seen her three times this year, and a fourth in December.
Did y'all see the opening act, Kyrie Kristmanson? She's a friend of mine and a local girl from my fair city of Ottawa. She's opening for Feist in Paris from the 6th to the 16th of October. She is totally fantastic.

Kyrie Kristmanson is indeed fantastic. Saw her solo set at the Regina Folk Fest and was blown away. I had no idea she was opening for Feist! Her band Rah Rah is also worth checking out.

ANDY--
I live across the border from Canada. So yes, I'm familiar with the fact that most Canadians aren't bilingual. I do happen to speak French (8 years study, plus months of living in France.) Was your comment meant to be "a jab," or just statement of fact?
No, I didn't know she wasn't bilingual. But for someone to be from Canada, claim to reside in France, sing in French, and still not be bilingual strikes me as a bit odd, don't you think? There are a few resources that perhaps she's missing out on.
