Lollapalooza 2008: Friday In Photos

thubmnail icon: Lollapalooza 2008: Friday In Photos

One day into Lolla, and Radiohead have already made the trip worth it. Also Chuck Bass -- we saw him chilling in the media area. Kanye, Wilco, and Obama (ha) are on deck. Rest assured we are charging our camera batteries and will muscle our way through Grant Park's sell-out crowd to take too many photos. After the jump, courtesy of photog Abbey Braden, you'll find a display covering Day One's noteworthy performances from bands not named Grizzly Bear (Duffy, Gogol Bordello, Bloc Party, CSS, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks). Grizzly were so special (lots of new songs), they'll get a dedicated write-up in a bit. Those looking for a more immersive experience can watch full sets from Rogue Wave and Mates Of State here.

Man, you guys get some great photos. My review, in case anyone's interested is here:

Complete with really crappy photos and setlists from Bloc Party and Radiohead.

Thanks!

Gogol Bordello was amazing! Loved CSS. When they played Left Behind the girl in the music video was on the stage dancing, lots of fun.

Band To Watch: Threatmantics

Threatmantics are a scruffy Welsh rock trio that throw some wrinkles into the scruffy rock formula: Instead of a lead guitarist, they have a lead John Cale viola, and their drummer does double-time with a keyboard. The two guys mixing...
