Dan Deacon's Old Ska Band Maybe you already knew about Dan Deacon's old Long Island ska crew Channel 57, but we've never seen so many Channel 59 or childhood Dan photos in one place (Thanks, Gena). Skank to www.channel59.tripod.com.

i don't actually like Bomb all that much. I don't hate them but i don't think they are amazing. i prefer bands that don't play just one genre. and most LI ska bands sucked and were really lame back in the day, being in HS on LI during that time. and aren't Bomb from all over, like a bunch a diff bands (better bands, sorry!) collabing? i could totally be wrong thou, just what i thought i read. i do like their label thou, alot of good bands they support. just don't listen to them. hope that's fair.

Arrogant Sons of Bitches, one of the better you bands you mentioned, is Jeff Rosenstock's (from Bomb) old band that were incredible. I feel like Bomb is very similar, just with less horns. I don't know any other ska bands (I don't think) from LI besides those two though, and they both always have a special place in my <3. But yeah, Quote Unquote records has been putting out free stuff longer than Radiohead! That's totally fair.

That's ridiculous. I think it's even a stretch to call BtMI a ska band because they play so many different styles. They are like a cross between ska and punk and acoustic and hardcore punk and video game music. And I think they are faaaaaantastic.

Also, Dan Deacon is the man. Where can I find actual mp3s of Channel 59? They don't seem to be on this old site anymore....
