David Bowie Hearts Arcade Fire
Like Stereogum, the Thin White Duke fell in love with Arcade Fire over a year ago. "Chris Martin has been saying he's discovered them first, but I did. So there. Na na na na na!" the rocker recently boasted to The Mirror. An injured Bowie finally shared the stage with his favorite new band at a Fashion Week gig last week. What's the deal with Arcade's Summerstage gig on Thursday? I hear they are not honoring CMJ badges, only hard tickets. ?

Yeah, I have nothing but love for David Bowie, but that performance of "Life on Mars?" was pretty mediocre at best. His voice on "Wake Up," on the other hand, sounds absolutely AMAZING. Probably one of the coolest collaborations ever.

I was a bit confused on the Arcade Fire appearance for Fashion Rocks, but the David Bowie collab really gave AF Fashion Rocks cred. It was a cool performance.

I read an interview earlier this spring/summer as Arcade Fire was really starting to build steam, and while I guess they were just entering the summer tour season, one of the band members commented that they would get bored touring on same album for a year like the Killers have done (not to mention the pressure of following up on a hot debut).
Yet it seems to me Funeral is really starting to catch on now, and we must be nearing the one-year mark since its release. Are they adding dates or has this been the plan all along? I thought they were supposed to start recording a new album this fall, but it doesn't seem that they'll be back in Montreal for awhile yet...
