Demetri Martin Is The New Rachel Hunter

You can always count on Fountains Of Wayne to portray their cheeky power pop via memorable vids, and thanks to Miss Modern Age's set-crashing stealth, looks like they're at it again with the forthcoming clip for "Someone To Love." No former Mrs. Rod Stewart this time; instead we get funnyman (and Film School collaborator) Demetri Martin. Good trade -- and from the looks of Laura's pics, thankfully, no Demetri in bikini.

The vid is directed by Adam Neustadter (whose work you already know). Don't know the air date yet, but we'll show it to ya whenever Schlesinger deems fit.

UPDATE: More pics! Compliments of Melody Nelson, whose captions reveal that Demetri plays track protagonist Seth Mackenzie ("got his law degree..."). And in real life, Martin is a NYU Law School drop-out! Oh, the irony. Check the pics (and song stream) after the jump.

The new album is so much more consistent than Interstate Managers. Brilliant!

Demetri in a bikini sounds interesting [if not good] to me. I think he's got a really cute butt. And he's funny as hell. Demetri, call me!

Two awesome things together, and it's not even my birthday. Score. Can't wait to see Demetri in the pouring rain.

Actually, I think he's a Yale Law dropout. Either way, good for him. He may be one of the nicest guys in show bizness.

Actually, Drew, Demetri graduated Yale undergrad, and subsequently dropped out of NYU Law, just as the article states.

demetri is potraying Seth "Shapiro". Beth Mackenzie is the other character in the song, which is a reference to Father Mackenzie in Eleanor Rigby. Very clever Adam.

OMG !!! Demetri Martin in a Fountains of Wayne video! What could be more perfect?

Maybe having all of them performing in Melbourne, going from Demetri's show first, then on to a FoW concert. Mmmmmmm......

Paprslut, More consistent than "Interstate Managers?" What, are you nuts? This CD is as consistent as Axl Rose on a good day (and I mean that as the highest form of praise for FOW, not Mr. Rose).

And Kevin, where did the "Father McKenzie" idea come from - just because her last name is the same? Maybe McKenzie just is a more realistic name for a character in a great song... or do you think her first name is "Beth" because in the KISS song, Beth was lonely, too? Remember? "Beth I know you're lonely..." Does that make Adam a clever KISS devotee? Sheesh...
