Devendra Banhart Makes Lindsay Lohan A Mixtape

Who would've guessed that when Devendra Banhart isn't showing folks around his crib or popping a Spiritual Boner on Conan, he'd be busy making mixtapes for Lindsay Lohan? Looks like the kindly folkie wants to help her through rehab (no, no, no) and perhaps spice up her new relationship with snowboarder Riley Giles, who left his fiancée for Double L.

(Via PR-Inside)

I made two mix CDs for her. I put Nico, Vashti Bunyan, Captain Beefheart, Caetano Veloso and Joanna Newsom on there. She totally dug them ... We ended up talking about Fleetwood Mac, who we’re both obsessed with ... I haven’t talked to her recently. She’s taking care of herself. I’m trying to give her some space, because I think now is a tough time for her.
Considering all the coke they did, we're not surprised she's "obsessed with" Fleetwood Mac. Ditto for Nico and the Captain and their drugs of choice. It's a bit tougher, though, imagining her nodding out to Y's -- E, maybe. Bad drug references aside, wonder if DB managed to slip Spank Rock on there?

Sounds an awful lot like when John Legend praised Paris Hilton's CD up and down.

Up and down? Hahh ha haaah haa! I love them Freudian Slips!

If only Banhart put this much effort into his last album it might have been a more enjoyable listen. Half of the damn record sounded like he was making it up as he went along. Poor show, Devendra. Very poor show.

This is old news. Lohan interviewed Banhart for Interview magazine last year and a mix CD he made her was mentioned. They met probably met through Karl Lagerfeld who had Banhart play at a fashion show.

Didn't this happen a while ago? Or is he still doing it? In an issue of Interview Magazine from early this year, or maybe even last year Devendra interviews Lohan and gives her a mix tape. Really funny interview

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...
