DeVotchKa, Sparklehorse, Album Leaf Cover The Nightmare Before Christmas

thumbnail icon: DeVotchKa, Sparklehorse, Album Leaf Cover The Nightmare Before Christmas

Tim Burton's cult stop-motion film turns 15 this year, and as previously reported a motley crew of indie and goth-pop acts have recorded covers for an updated soundtrack called Nightmare Revisited. It's fun to hear Polyphonic Spree and Album Leaf interpret Danny Elfman, even if you risk hearing Korn's contribution, too (always with the terrible covers, those guys). Check out our faves after the jump.

DeVotchKa - "Overture"

The Polyphonic Spree - "Town Meeting Song"

Sparklehorse - "Jack's Obsession"

RJD2 - "Christmas Eve Montage"

Rodrigo y Gabriela - "Oogie Boogie's Song"

Datarock - "To The Rescue"

The Album Leaf - "End Title"

That RJD2 cut is perfect if you're going as Don Draper for Halloween. Nightmare Revisited is out now on Disney.

Im sure this comment will be downscored, but Korn's cover is actually better and more appropriate than most of these (and definitely better than She Wants Revenge's cover of the same song from a couple years ago)

For that matter, Marilyn Manson's "This is Halloween" cover is better than most of these too.

You're actually totally right.

I'm going to downscore you.

You're right - the Manson song is phenomenal. Click my name if you want to hear it.
