Duran Duran went and reunited themselves -- they didn't need VH1's Aamer to do it for them.
The final episode of Bands Reunited's thoroughly awesome second season is on tonight. It's the Motels. If you haven't been watching this week, you missed Haircut 100, ABC, New Kids On The Block, and the English Beat. There will be a few more episodes later this fall. (Hint: rhymes with Schminformation Society!)
Good to see Haircut 100 getting some love. When I was in high school I picked up a free cassingle of Nick Heyward's "Kite" at the short-lived Purple Haze record store in Albertson, NY. The track became a fixture on every mixed tape I made thereafter. Ivy did a cool (albeit note for note) interpretation on their covers album. Sorry I don't have either version for you right now ... go track "Kite" down.
As for bands that you wish would reunite but never will ... stream The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads, their newly expanded 1982 live package.
And from Matador comes news of another Pavement reissue. Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain: Desert Origins drops 10/26 and features 39 (!) extra tracks. Stereogum still hearts "Cut Your Hair."
