Esquire's SXSW Showcase

With more acts than you can shake a wristband at added by the day to the SXSW 2007 lineup, it'll be tough for any one showcase to be a must-hit -- but Esquire's booked a doozy. The Stooges, Kings Of Leon, Spoon, all with new shit to play, all in one spot. Sorry, stragglers -- you'll need a wristband or badge to get in. But what's better than Iggy and BBQ?

Iggy, Spoon, and BBQ. Man, this is worth my badge alone.

Ok, not really, but damn, it makes me soo much more excited!

When Esquire is sponsoring a showcase, haven't we lost something about SXSQ that made it great? Yes, I understand that the festival needs sponsors. But come on.

"Who's this Paolo Nutini, is he any good?"

I don't know anything about him, but I saw him at Austin City Limits Festival and thought he was quite lame.

paulo nutini is awful, steer well clear. 'singer/songwriter' from a chipshop in paisley, scotland. cancerously bad.

If you're wondering who Paolo Nutini is, just look at the banner ad at the top of this post... convenient. He's one of Rolling Stone's "Artist to Watch 2007" and he has a song called New Shoes. Apparently, it's featured on his new album. I can't be bothered to look at the top of the page again to find out what it's called, but I'm impressed by the 'Gum's foray into corporate synergy. Tell me, Stereogum, tell me more about Esquire sponsered showcases and what videos from the 80s were crappy.

I think this lineup is pretty damn good...What does it say about Blender that Esquire has the best line-up at SXSW?

Paolo has a myspace music page. check it out to sample. I don't care for "new shoes" but think his other songs are pretty good.

I'm seeing him next month. I have no idea how he sounds live.

Kings of Leon are good I guess.

Get there early to see A Fine Frenzy...one of the most promising new acts that will break in '07.

Paolo Nutini can not be called lame. He's a wee Scottish legend! He's had great reviews from every live gig he's played in his US tour so far. I saw him in the Bowery Ballroom and World Cafe Live and got a great response from both crowds. He's lined up to play at all major UK festivals this summer. Not one to miss!

Paolo is fantastic. Please don't judge until you know what you're judging. And no he was never a model. He's got a great voice, is incredibly charming, sweet, talented...and beautiful...;p]

Paolo is a model by the way, on storm modelling agency,
but he was a singer first. He's got an incredibly unique voice and is definitely worth listening to, particularily live.
