Exit Musak (For A Film)

If you'll allow me to get a bit easy-listening on your ass... Jamie Cullum is a young jazz pianist who interprets a few indie rock faves on his Verve debut. I know: it's been done (Christopher O'Riley, Brad Mehldau), but the Jeff Buckley and Radiohead covers are worth a listen. Stream here.

i hope this doesn't comprimise my cred, but i really like christopher o'riley's album.

and, to top it off, my father was the one who told me about it...

of course, my atrocious spelling might be more damaging...!

hey, this jaime cullen kid is all right. he's not quite as ... limp as norah jones & michael buble (guh-ross!). more in the nellie mckay vein, perhaps. with a little harry connick, jr. and holly cole thrown in on top.

His cover of Pharrell's "Frontin'" is amazing.

hmm...just looked at the tracklisting for the north american release, i have the british import (sans the radiohead cover), but it's good that you folks get to hear it...it was originally on his self-financed debut.

Maybe Jamie Cullem would sound better after 4 rums and cokes but sober he just turned some great alt songs into early Billy Joelish piano bar stuff- (not that there is anything wrong with THAAAAT!)

I just saw him live in Cleveland, and it was one of the best acts I have ever seen. The guy is a genius. The energy he displayed was something to behold. If you listen to his CD, you say -So What. When you see him live, you say WOW. If you ever get a chance, go see his show.

hey, i got the cullem album from a friend and i think that hendrix and buckley would be turning in their graves also thom yorke if he were dead. I really love Jeff buckley and to see the best song in the world turned into a dogs breakfast made me want to puke! Also with hendrix's the wind cries mary it sounds like absolute crap! I definetely would not recommend this album if you don't like hearing absolute musical legends songs being chewed up spat out then chewed up again and puked all over the place! Rest in peace jeff
