Finally, Lisa Hannigan Solo

Seems like we're incapable of mentioning Damien Rice without fawning over his accompanying vocalist, Lisa Hannigan. Her hand-wringing and char-burned vocal charm slay us, and aside from bootlegs and radio rips of Lisa performing covers, there really isn't much out there that to feed our fixation. So big thanks to Stereogum reader Aoife for pointing us to Other Voices, a show on RTÉ Two TV, which features Lisa in a 17 minute performance and interview segment. The first song's a little forgettable, but you'll fall in love during the interview (hers is the classic "always the bridesmaid, never a bride" story, and she's instantly endearing, like a real-life movie heroine minus the contrived Hollywood bullshit). And her performances on the show from there on are just mesmerizing.

Hey glad you guys liked it as much as I did!

Isn't she great? Can't wait to hear more solo stuff. If anything else pops up I'll let you know.

YES! Finally. Been saying she should since my mum somehow discovered the Damien Rice album before the world. Well found, Aoife.

I've got it in mp3 (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5V58J2SV). Gave it to someone else. I understand if Stereogum want to take down that link.

She really deserves any success she gets. Her parts on Damien Rice's album are some of the album's high points.

I read 'Hannigan' and automatically thought of the Alyson Hannigan from "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and currently on "How I Met Your Mother"...but yeah Lisa's just as cute.

How could this piece say that the first song is forgettable? I hope she records this stuff properly and soon. Thank you very much, Andrew for posting the link to the mp3 download. It's a great thing to have.

Courting blues is brilliant! It's a Bert Jansch song I think. Nick Drake did a cover of it too. Here's the URL for it http://www.lalunarosa.com/discografiaeng.htm

I sure agree that there is not enough material out there of Lisa singing solo. She's got one of the most haunting voices I've ever heard. I'm a songwriter and I've written a song just for Lisa. Does anybody know how to contact her agent or manager or Lisa directly? Thanks!
