Flea And John Frusciante Slam MySpace Imposters, Mickey Avalon Haters
When they're not busy selling out stadiums and arcadiums, Red Hot Chili Peppers are busy sending messages to the fans via email. First one comes from Flea, who wants you to know that he is not a racist and he loves everyone:
Fleamail, March 30, 2007The next email blast from camp Chili Pepper is authored by godly guitarist John Frusciante, who was enraged at RHCP's Oklahoma audience for booing his friend (and opening act), rapper Mickey Avalon. We like to call this one "John Frusciante To Oklahoma: 'You Show No Regard For Humanity.'" It's really long. Enjoy!

Sent: Mar 13, 2007 5:43 PMTo the Oklahoma audience,
I feel love for everyone who supports my band and our music. I play music to spread light around the world and those who are open to the light we spread are as much a part of our music as we are.To the few of you who booed my friend Mickey Avalon, I must say that I agree with Flea that you were also booing my band and yourselves.
Because in booing another man, in the first place, you show no regard for humanity. And you show that you have no concept of the amount of courage it takes to open up in front of anybody, much less 10,000 people. We love John Frusciante. Solo stuff kicks ass. And he's so compassionate! Now, what did we learn today, kids? By booing, obviously you are a contemptuous prick. But you also perform an important, character-building function in the growth of an artist. So, thank you! And fuck you very much.Because anyone who knows what it feels like to open up to even one person would never attempt to abuse a person who was doing so in front of a crowd. I happen to feel that Mickey is a great rapper, a great performer, and a natural born star. Though all my friends agree with me on this, it is obviously a matter of opinion, as with any artist, and I certainly don't expect every member of my bands audience to agree with me, especially with such limited exposure to him. But imagine if you were 10 years old and you spent a year putting a play together, and charged 50 cents and you and your friends really decked the place out and worked hard to make it fun to come to, and you knew a five year old dancer who was great and asked her to dance before the play. If some people came and booed her, would you want to perform for them? Would that kind of abuse be what you had in mind when you were working so hard to create an environment where people could have fun, party and be entertained? Anybody who has the guts to get on stage and bear themselves deserves to be respected for having courage. Anyone watching is free to leave or go to the lobby. But by staying, though you don't like it, and preferring to boo rather than leave, you are showing that you derive pleasure from attempting to hurt others, and that is always the result of dissatisfaction with yourself. Anyone who tries to make others feel bad, in an attempt to feel good themselves, will never feel true happiness as long as they do so. Not to mention, in the case of a great man such as Mickey Avalon, you only make him stronger, because he has actual self-belief, something which cannot be faked. And you who booed gave him the chance to demonstrate that he has that admirable quality. By the way, the Chili Peppers got booed opening for people in the early days, as have many of the all-time greats. Standing up to that shit is part of getting stronger when someone knows they are good, and it is just taking the world longer to catch on. In this sense I thank you for booing because you have served as a steppingstone for a strong performer to get even stronger.
And I also realize that those of you who booed have probably been spoken down to consistently by your parents, your teachers, your bosses, your older siblings, older kids, etc.I know that shit is frustrating and it probably feels good to take it out on someone who has confidence you wish you had. But the truth is we are all here together. One of us is here because all of us are here. If you don't respect other peoples feelings you can't expect to ever have others respect your feelings. As long as you attempt to humiliate someone who is opening up to you, you will never have the courage to truly open up to others.
I knew there was a chance that Mickey would get booed by those of you who resent what isn't familiar, and I also knew that he is of strong enough character to stand up to it, and perform as great as he does in a club in L.A. where people absolutely love and adore him. There is very little I admire more than that ability, which last night he clearly showed he has. A strong sense of self is what we all want, and so we should respect those who have it. Whether we like what they are doing is beside the point. If I see a performer who I think is terrible, my heart bleeds for them. The thought of trying to humiliate them is unthinkable.
I am very grateful to be able to share the music that comes through me and my band with each and every person who attends our shows. It means a great deal to me. But when I see that some members of my audience enjoy hurting others, I must speak up and say what I feel is right. If you are using the arena we all rented together to attempt to hurt a mans feelings, I must use the microphone to get across that that is not why
we are gathered there.Thank you to all of you, including you who booed, and I honestly hope you got something out of the experience. I hope you who booed someday have the beginnings of true confidence, whereby you derive no pleasure from humiliating others, and can then have the courage to open up to the world and be yourself unashamedly.
What we share with music is a celebration of the infinite possibilites the universe has to offer. I love all who share in this celebration with us. I recommend that you use the experience to inspire you to be yourself, and to let it all hang out. What the fuck do you think is so cool about Flea and Anthony in the first place? Or Jimi Hendrix or David Bowie? Or Little Richard? They waved their freak flag high! We should all follow their lead! Have respect for those who do this(whether they're famous or not)and you will develop the courage to do this yourself. Everyone of you is a star. Its just hiding inside of some of you. That part of you will come out if you treat others as you would like to be treated, and when you can't find it in yourself to do so, if you just leave others alone.
All of you who we play to have given me so much and I write this in hopes that I can give help to some of you(who were clearly the minority) where you clearly showed yourself to be in need of help. If people try to push you down, don't conform to their bullshit. Stand up to it, with courage. Make 'em threaten you with death before you even consider backing down. Be how you want to be. Fuck'em. Then you will develop inner character whereby you would always support those who have the guts to be themselves openly, for you would know that you and they are on the same team. We are actually all on the same team but some of us seem to know that and others do not. Thanks especially to the majority of you, who opened up to MA.I know he's different. It always takes a second for us to comprehend things that are unfamiliar.
Lots of love to all of you. That's what this is all about.
Love,
John Frusciante
PS. I know I don't know you personally and couldn't possibly know if you only buy and listen to what your force fed. I was so mad last night, when Fleas mention of MA received some boos, that my words were led by my emotions, and I am not used to verbally speaking to large crowds. I wrote this letter to make my position clear. Thank you for hearing me out.

i wasn't at the show, but several people i know were, and in their defense, everyone in the audience were led to believe and expecting gnarls barkley to open for the peppers, so that probably had a lot to do with the negativity. plus....they were all in agreement that mickey avalon really did suck hardcore. i'm just upset that this whole thing is really giving oklahoma music fans a bad rap.

I'm pretty sure attending an RHCP show is good enough for a bad rap. The boos and letters to the peeps has redeemed Oklahoma music fans.

I don't think there's anything wrong with booing- these people pay ridiculous, obscene prices for tickets that have surcharges and all the extra crap they charge you for, and they were simply acting out against what they felt was the injustice of not getting what they paid for. How dare this person try and compensate for a non-entertaining performance because Micky Avalon is his friend and a "great man". A crappy performance is a crappy performance no matter who the person is. I think my brother is a “great man”, but his live kazoo concerts are simply all over the place.

Mickey Avalon couldn't sell out a 300 capacity club here in Ohio and now he opening for the Chili Peppers? The only justification I could ever see for a chili pepper concert ticket was a strong opener (they had Mars Volta last time they came around).
All this chili pepper blog whining makes me want to vomit. I would develop a fake myspace that made Flea look like a little bitch, but he took care of that for me.

I think the Chili Peppers just like to complain and try to make their fans feel like crap. When Stadium Arcadium leaked, Flea had that huge post saying how much he hated all of the people who downloaded it, even though they were doing it because they were excited to hear his music, and obviously paid for it when it came out anyhow (it was #1 when it came out, right?). And while I don't think many people cared, the ticket prices were way overpriced (60+ dollars for any seat in a basketball arena). And now Frusciante is bitching about the Oklahoma fans who paid, I'm guessing, 60 bucks to see two massively popular bands. Then, as others have said, one of the bands was replaced by some guy who raps about his penis and Jane Fonda.
I just don't get why they always have to complain.

If you have a preference, but if you boo, what are you really doing? You paid a lot of money just to boo and get pissed off? Try getting a parking ticket or something next time, it's much cheaper to get pissed off that way. I mean, just think of all of the bands that people relate to being "cool". What if someone like Xiu Xiu played? He'd be booed much more I bet. But it's a damn good band, in my opinion.
When Frusciante talks about growing stronger, I personally find that to be true. Sometimes even my favorite shows I have played in my own band have been ones where the people didn't like us that much. The idea of, "People are gonna hate this, but I fucking love what I'm doing, and you cannot take that away" is a strong feeling. It's easy to be the critic, but much harder to actually do anying original or creative yourself. Put your money where your mouth is people!
Score = 1
real music is about expressionism. creating feelings and mindscapes. its emotional and true to the artist who creates it. i don't know much about the artist who was booed but i am happy to take frusciante's opinion on him (he knows a shitload more abot music thsn anyone i know plus he operates from an emotional level), which means he was being a true artist. And even if an artist doesn't suit your cup of tea that is no reason to boo him. artists are often sensitive beings and if they thought they were going to be booed would not preform. just because the artist didn't suit the mainstream audience that was there doesn't mean he deserved this reaction that was the organisers fault. although i wish it wasn't anybody's fault and people were able to open up and try to appreciate new things which is never going to happen if ones reaction is to boo. people complain that commercial music has become so limited - well maybe this is the reason, people unable to accept something new and unexpected. i hope who ever this artist is it didn't change his view on performing
Score = 0
Listen, if cheering is a valid form of appreciation, then you have to accept booing as a valid form of criticism. Regardless of artistic intent, if what you're doing isn't doing it for the audience, then the audience has the right to express themselves. Being an artist (or whacky and irreverent) doesn't immunize him from criticism. If he put on a crap performance, and I just paid $60 to be his captive audience, then I get to express what I think about his performance.

i see your point we should get value for money. but the opening acts aren't disclosed on the ticket it always says 'special guests'. also opening acts are a time to experience something new, they aren't the reason 'most' people turn up in the first place, they aren't what people paid for, otherwise they'd have they're own tour. just because someone doesn't appeal to the masses does not make them irrelevant or whacky just not in sinc with what we're used to hearing, which if people gave a chance would be enriching. for example when i first heard the pixies it was live and i didn't think much of them, but now they are my favourite band. you can't judge a band on your first introduction to them, if i had done that i would have been booing my now favourite band. to boo a back up band on your first introduction to them is just poor taste and not allowing yourself to maybe find some pleasure in an unexpected place. there are better ways to show critism. critism is only valuable if it shows the area to which you are critizing. booing can be precieved in many ways and usually in a personal way. as a writer if someone said my script was crap, taht wouldn't help, whereas if someone said i needed to work on a certain character i would be greatful for their input. booing is just a destructive form of critism, which i think everyone would be better without.

John is catching a lot of criticism for what he posted, but I think he was truly just trying to come from the heart, and I seriously don't think that he was being egotistical or arrogant in any way. I really respect him for taking the time to explain himself with such an emotional and thorough response. There is a lot of music out there that I think sucks, but after reading what John said, I think the golden rule applies here. I can honestly say that I would have been one of those people boo'ing if I were there, and I would have been in the wrong on that. I would have done it without thinking instead of realizing that boo'ing hurts. It does take a lot of courage to get up on stage to perform; you are putting your whole self out there to an audience. Musicians are sensitive enough, and music is always very personal. Let's try to be good people and respect each other by not doing anything to break each other down.

Who's John kidding? Everyone in LA knows Mickey is a former-hustler, bi-sexual, drug addict who's only talent is in self-promotion. John admits he KNEW that nobody in his audience would like Mickey, so what's that's supposed to mean? He did it to piss the audience off on purpose? Then he blames the audience for booing, when they had every right to -- they PAID to be entertained, after all. This moral CRAP coming from a band whose first show was done with them all naked with socks on their tiny dicks -- whatever. Guess Mickey withheld his sexual favors for Frusciante after getting booed off. Sounds like it to me.

JOHN IS NOT SPEAKING FROM AN ARROGANT TONE, HE IS NOT TRYING TO BELITTLE YOU IN ANY WAY, HE IS SIMPLY SPEAKING FROM THE HEART ABOUT SOMETHING HE FEELS PASSIONATE ABOUT. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE OPENING ACT, GO OUT INTO THE CONCOURSE AND DRINK BEER. AND YES, YOU ARE STILL GETTING YOUR MONEY'S WORTH. BECAUSE THE CHILI PEPPERS ARE WORTH MUCH MORE THAN 60 DOLLARS TO SEE. AND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK $60 IS EXPENSIVE, YOU MUST NOT GO TO MANY CONCERTS. THAT IS CHEAP COMPARED TO MANY OTHER BIG-NAME BANDS. IT IS A CHEAP PRICE TO PAY TO SEE ONE OF THE GREATEST BANDS EVER!!

Much like the Stadium Arcadium double album itself, Frusciante's rant is overlong, lacking in focus and full of cheese.
As for Mickey Avalon, his sound is that which Hollywood hipster douchebags hear inside their own asses, their heads wedged between the cheeks.

Why can't people be civilized, or accepting of others?
For all you that boo'd, grow the F up! You could have gone outside instead of staying there and complaining.

OK so Johns rant is super long and he does kinda go off the point, from ranting about then thanking the people who booed, but am i the only person who found it adorable? I like to imagine he actually talks like that. What did he say to the crowb cause I always got annoyed that he never said anymore than thanks to the crowd when I saw the peppers.
I love John, his solo albums are incredible. Anyone who bitches about him just cause hes in the peppers should check them out cos youll be amazed. I used to be a Chili pepper obsessed freak but now I just love johns solo work as its about an infinity times better.
I know I sound all sad and fangirlish but I dont care hes one of my heroes, and the rant encapsulates his love and opinions of music, not just the music itself but performing it. You can tell how its the only way he really understands how to express things, is in relation to music and art.
bless him

how anybody can read what john frusciante wrote and still take the sides of the people who choose to take satisfaction in the bellittlilg of others is beyond me. john clearly feels strongly about the issue and has quite brilliantly put into words his emotions and opinions which subjectively come close to pretty much stating how it is. The man is a true musician and Mickey Avalon maybe not everybodys cup of tea but the audience knew he was to be preceeded by the chili peppers and that they must like him so why turn against the headline act that you've come to see?
john is right, people like that will never achieve true happiness and are not pleased with themselves. such a nasty personality trait to have but unfortunately contemporary society is full of it,

I think those of you stating that your ticket money somehow allows you to boo any of the acts are confused. The band is putting togather a show for many people to enjoy; and also for themselves and the other performers to enjoy. Its meant to be an experience for fans to share with the artists. Paying your ticket price is the money to get in the gate, not the price paid to act like a jackoff and get away with it :P

For those of you who think that Johns email was stupid then grow the fuck up!! John is one of the most beautiful guitar players in the world, his emotion seeps through his music and anyone who thinks different...then thats your choice for being so narrow minded! I wasnt at the concert and after hearing some of that Mickey dudes tracks....im not a fan! But wat the hell is wrong with some people! I dont blame John for gettin pissed at the fact that a crowd of people boo-ed someone he classed as a great musician, for someone whos life is about making music and listening and workin with singers from Brandy to Anthony Keidis, its obviously goin to piss him off if a support act got boo-ed!!
When i went to the July 7th concert in Coventry England where !!! and Dirty Pretty Things were supporting, i loved !!! but most other people hated them....n i wasnt a fan of Dirty Pretty Things but everyone else loved them!!! I just felt the buzz from actually being there in the same space as The Chilis!! I personally could never go to a concert a boo someone that has had the guts to get up there n play for a crowed of people! N to be fair it was the best 50 pound id spent, nevermind getting to the venue! But its wat you pay for concerts, if your goin to go there boo bands n then moan about the price then do some fuckin research befor eoyu buy ur ticket!!! Simple fact!!

Dude, this is JOHN FRUSCIANTE we're talking about. You don't argue with him.
Okay, many of you have a point, that you should be allowed to show your displeasure. But is there really any point to it?? Especially if it hurts the audience, the atmosphere, the artist and the great band you're waiting to see?? It's a show, not that 30 seconds of fame show in which you get booed off the stage if the audience doesn't like you. Plus, booing is purely opinion based, man. John Frusciante makes a whole series of perfectly valid points, and honestly, it just looks like he was trying to express how pointless it is to try and get some guy's morale down, when you know it's not going to affect him. He knows much more about music and life than most people in the world, so he must have AWESOME reasons for liking this guy. Relax, and think about the Chili. If you hate the guy, start mass singing a Chili Peppers' song.... he'll get the message, or start clapping really loud and cheer in the middle of his song altogether. Hehe.
John Frusciante is God.
He means well for all of us mortals.
May the Chili be with all of you.
P.S. - It seems like his lyrics were pretty much spot on in ripping off the type of lyrics Anthony used to write earlier...more than a coincidence???

So the Chili Peppers trot out some scrawny gay hooker instead of a real opening act, then Frusciante bitches afterwards about him getting booed? Mickey Avalon is lucky he only got booed and that he didn't get pelted with bottles.
Reminds me of the SARS relief concert they had up here in Toronto a couple years ago; thousands upon thousands of people came out and waited all day under the blazing sun to see AC/DC, Rolling Stones, etc. and who did they send out at one point? Justin Timberlake....I swear to Jesus. Now what do you think happened? People booed and hissed and threw shit. Big difference was that:
1) This concert was free (intended to promote tourism in Toronto after SARS fears hurt tourism industry). So people couldn't bitch about being "ripped off" financially
2) Justin Timberlake volunteered to do it (wasn't "paid", but probably got perks and shit). So that was kind of shitty for people to be so harsh, but oh well.
So when the Chili Peppers bring out some asswipe to perform for a crowd that paid to see RHCP and *probably* wasn't going to "appreciate" MA's "artistry", they shouldn't act surprised when the crowd expresses their displeasure.
Frusciante should stop trying to show everyone how anti-mainstream and esoteric he is (e.g. smearing feces on a canvas and calling it art, or promoting Mickey Avalon -- basically the same thing) and just play the Chili Peppers songs that MADE HIM...

It pains me to say this, but John can go eat a bag of shit. I was at the OKC show, AFTER IT HAD BEEN CANCELLED THE FIRST TIME TWO MONTHS BEFORE, an hour before it was supposed to start, after driving two hours in a blizzard.
I agree whole heartedly with the previous poster who said that if cheering is an acceptable way to show approval, then booing is just as acceptable to show disapproval.
Most of us couldn't even tell if we were supposed to take this Mickey Avalon character seriously, or if this whole thing was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek. Even if it was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, it was becoming more and more not funny by the minute. Once it became apparent that MA was ,in fact, not a joke, it became down right insulting.
To compare him to RHCP in the early days or other artists, is faulty. There was actual talent involved with RHCP and others, whereas the ONLY reason MA is remotely popular is for shock value.
And one more thing to you John Frusciante, to chide us, even though you recanted it in your post script, saying that we only buy mass media crap and accept what Mtv shoves down our throats....I suppose you would know, huh? As we keep buying YOUR MALL-CORE ALBUMS ONLY OUT OF DEVOTION TO RHCP EVEN THOUGH THESE ALBUMS ARE JUST BECOMING MORE AND MORE BLAND AND RADIO FRIENDLY.

Just came back from a Peppers concert in the Goffertpark (Nijmegen, Netherlands). Mickey Avalon opened the night and was boo'ed off the stage by 40,000 people. Maybe Frusciante should step out of his cocoon and start listening to his fans. The entire crowd was talking to eachother, debating whether this guy was a joke or whether he was really THAT awful. Unfortunately, it was no joke. His performance was nothing but an insult to the people who paid 50 bucks to be there.

I was also at the Goffertpark Nijmegen yesterday. At first the crowd wasn.t booing at all, just not clapping out loud. because of that, Avalon started making comments on how Dutch people arent any good because football is our number one sport and not baseball. with a body like his you shouldnt make comments on sports at all, but that aside. he just stepped on the pride of 50.000 people. after that there were a few other remarks. and then he announced a the next song to be about our mothers. like all of his songs it was about fucking some bitch in a very sleazy way. So he can ridicule a nations pride, talk about your mother, say fuck u and put his middelfinger up. but we can boo!!!. come on. im a pepper fan to the bone but them leaving the concert right after the last song. with no thank you, or anything. because we had hurt their little incompetent friend just pisses me off.

"RHCP" in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
Mickey Avalon was unbearable and he was absolutely provicing the Dutch audience. His sick lyrics don't fly in The Netherlands. His DJ does put out a good beat, he should look for a real rapper.
Still it wasn't okay how this looser was treated.
But The Chili Peppers punished the crowd with a bleak and very short show.
A shame, they should leave MA in LA because he is an insult for music and fans who pay good money for ticket.

I was there too. And Iliked Mickey! I don't really like his music, but it could have been nice, if that stupid crowd didn't treat him like they did. I was a shamed about the audience.
And some people say he was provocing the audience, but before he said those things the audience was throwing already. The things he said were his reaction on it.
And I understand his reaction. What would you do if you're standing there and so many people are throwing food at you and so many people are hissing you? I think what he said about that people in Holland don't play baseball at all, was really good.. and he was right :P.
And I can understand that people didn't like his music, but.. it's in one word pathetic what they were doing. Really pathetic. It's something you just don't do. So antisocial.
Btw, the Peppers were amazing ;-) Really really really great.. Maybe a little short but they were very good :-D
Btw2, Jane Fonda is the best song from Mickey :-P and I like it!!! Even it isn't the kind of music I like.

I think that everyone is entitled to an opinion, just as much as everyone is entitled to clap at someone/something OR to boo. I'm not saying I think it was the best thing for the RHCP fans to do, but anyone who gets up on a stage has to be ready for the worst (which is why they are often paid so well). They are there to produce art, to entertain, to relieve us from the stresses of work and daily lives -- and in their art, they have to be ready for critics. As far as MA goes, well, he got a good dose of the critics. Apparently he cried afterwards. I feel badly for him, but get up in front of that many people and expect the worst...just as when I go into a work meeting in front of executives, I expect good and bad. Sometimes it's all good, sometimes not. I just don't agree with J.F. posting the letter that he did, not only because he is NOT a moral compass to anything nor anyone, but also because he actually was derogatory in the end of the letter. The RHCP wouldn't be paid as much as they are had they not become mainstream. What is so wrong with mainstream? That pisses me off a bit. Get off the soapbox John and let it go.

Well, I wish some people coming to yesterday's Peppers' concert in Poland had seen it before... They booed Mickey and it seems Peppers really resented that. They gave rather a lame concert and I'm a bit disappointed now :( It was my first live meeting with the band, I hope not the last one, but they really didn't rock out as they could and should have :(

im from south africa, travelled all the way to earls court last year just to watch them play, was only in london for jsut under two weeks.

so yes, even if the opener sucks, shut the fuck up, lets face it, you actually only came to see the main act

I accidently bumped up to this message John Frusciante left in particular to a oklahoma crowd.Well, internet stretches far,so here we are in holland. For one,i never have expierienced a live performance of RHCP nor John Frusciante.Though i have all cd's of both parties, like a lot of us.I'ts more affortable and enough for me to be the owner of good music on a piece of plastic.I did not even know the name John Frusciante till I saw Bram van Splunteren's documantary :a Dutch connection, which was shocking but gave me a strange feeling of hope.Though this period in life John frusciante was into in the 90-ies has past long ago,my opinion is that you can't get away from scartissue. What he says here in this message shows how famous people are seperated from daily lives common people live.Wasn't it embarrasment he felt when his friend got booed for the reaction of HIS fans? Why so sensitive? And the last part of the message is little schitzofranic in a way he first explains why it it so bad to hurt someone in public or otherwise....but he fucks us very much at the end?As an artist you don't HAVE to expose yourself, let your work speak for it self and be happy with yourself and what you do.But if your choice is to expose yourself and perform live for hundereds or thousands of people, there could be an equal amount of reactions to it.Your friend had to be prepared.Don't forget the people who appriciate ,buy and embrace what artist make,as well as they reject it.I am sure John Frusciante ment all well, and learned a lot about what's bad for the Karma...but we all need different amounds of time and insight.Share your frustration with the ones you are close to,and keep on laughing for they don't know what they do John.(hahaha!)Tried to write in my best English, hope it's ok, Bibi

And before we all go to bed peacefully..a little poem.
Mr Frusciante refused to say farewell,
He paid his demons with all his teeth,
which in the past were brushed very well.
clear of a heavy debt, tired and beat,
In a warm white chair he took a seat,
And doctor Ivory made very sure,
John would die old with a smile in his face,
The fear of plastic ones seemed so real,
But plastic appeared to be a cure,
Let's hear him him play till the end of days.

I went to the OKC concert, and yes quite a few people were boo-ing. In all of thier defense we were expecting Gnarls Barkley. I thought it was pretty crappy at first until the guy started playing. HE WAS TERRIBLE. His music is terrible, his performance was terrible. I am not the type of person to boo, but if there was ever a time I thought about it, it was at that concert.

I was at that show and was so embarrassed that John had to come out and stand up for Mickey. I was there to have a beautiful experience listening and watching my favorite band play the music that I so deeply connect with. No, Mickey Avalon is not someone I would normally listen to, but shouldn't we be open to new sounds and experiences? John had to be really upset to say what he said, especially since he doesn't do a lot of talking in front of such large crowds. John is right....what is the point of trying to make someone feel bad? And that goes for some of these posts....some of them are so hateful. Can you imagine how much better the world would be if, instead of putting all of our energy into being negative and hateful, we channeled our energy into being positive?

"What he says here in this message shows how famous people are seperated from daily lives common people live"
Not really. Half of the messages of the common people are not very different of what Frusciante complain about : "why is he saying that to us ? why is he booing us ? how daring ? it makes me vomit that he's complaining..." and it never stops...
"but he fucks us very much at the end?"
Er, no. Stereogum does. Read slowly.

If i paid 60 bucks and had to sit through that song named after me i would boo too.

I dont care the circumstances, booing is completely disrespectful and unnecessary! I'm with John on this one!!!!!

Take a real opener out with you when your fans have to dump a C note to get in between convenience charges, parking, and a long drive in the middle of BFE. Period.

RHCP died with Hillel Slovak imho im surprised people still support them and would pay $60 bucks to see them. Mickey is a big boy and Im sure hes been booed before. Good folks in OK and they deserve respect from the RHCP.
