For Your Consideration

Jesus Walks, Kanye talks. MC Modest complains to MTV News:

KANYE WEST: "If I don't win Album of the Year, I'm gonna really have a problem with that ... I put my love, I put my heart, I put my money [into Late Registration]. I'm $600,000 in the hole right now ... 'Jesus Walks' is not a classic? 'Roses' is not a classic? 'Gold Digger' wasn't song of the year?"
DUDE, the Grammy noms weren't even ANNOUNCED yet. Save the rant for February.

Kanye will almost certainly get an Album nod, but no word yet if Clap Your Hands turned it down. Log on tomorrow for a list of nominees.

This is the exactly the kind of bahavior that makes Kanye come across as a douchebag. That sense of entitlement. Sure, Late Registration is a good album. So was The College Dropout. But what makes those albums hard to love is Kanye. He should take a lesson from the Tom Cruise PR Rule Book - when you just shut up, people will like you and your work more.

Kanye West doesn't care about non-Kanye West people.

Ha!
If anyone should get credit for Gold Digger, it's Ray Charles. Does anybody listen to the rap portion of that song anyways??

Stereogum users don't care about black people.

Late Registration is the most overrated album of the year right next to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. I could go into a huge rant about how half the people who are probably touting Late Registration as some sort-of five-star, flawless classic (i.e. Rolling Stone) haven't listened to any hip-hop that came before 1998. The College Dropout was better than this record, and that was far from flawless. I mean, I thought Speakerboxxx/The Love Below was a bit overpraised, but at least OutKast don't act like arrogant pricks.

If Outkast did act like pricks, it would be all the more funnier.

Andre 3000: "Roses really smell like poo-ooh-ooh" you're telling me that's not deep?! Doesn't that really make you think of how much flowers suck for your money?
Big Boi: "Big girls need love too" that lyric is a response to women in society. See? I care about you ladies. Self-esteem and girl power and shit.

"Stereogum users don't care about black people"?

What a fabulous generalization you've made there.

Well, if he doesn't win album of the year, he's not the hot shot he thinks he is. I kind of want to laugh in his face if that happens, just to mock his conceit.

Wait, I'm Black, and I think that Kanye's gone a little too far with his bragging.

I want Kanye's album to be nominated, only to be beaten by My Chemical Romance. I would laugh my ass off at the fallout of that one.

Then again, they'd probably just pair up for some MTV special like Linkin Park/Jay-Z. (sigh)

"What a fabulous generalization you've made there."

Uh, dude. It was a joke referencing that thing Kanye said that was all over the news and such. Eh?

I have to agree that I liked College Dropout better than the new album, but I enjoy both. As for Kanye's extreme arrogance, I find it pretty amusing.

Why do white people use the word "dude"? Is it equivalent to black people's N word?

Why does this blog have groups I have never heard of? Can I get more coverage on Ashley Simpson?

What's emo?

god, kanye's become such a douche. I hope he loses album of the year just so he can learn a little humility.

I seriously doubt those other people in the running are thinking "oh well, i didn't work as hard as HE did...so he deserves it more."
