Has anyone seen the Mercury Rev video for "In a Funny Way?" Friedman looks absolutely terrifying.

The National's "Secret Meeting" from the their Alligator lp, which was recently released. I have two of their songs on fd5k. Check the archives. Amazing stuff. Buy the Lp!

Why do people like the National? the music just meanders pointlessly and the lyrics are lame and forced. "I had a meeting in the basement of my brain." Come on. Is that supposed to be deep?

I'd write more, but I have an appointment in the attic of my liver.

Ariel Pink was pure torture when I first encountered him live back in 2003, but found his mp3s surprisingly enjoyable afterwards.

Has anyone seem him live recently?

that no time flat song is catchy as all hell! great song.

as for the national, i can't say why i like them, but the alligator lp is fantastic. and despite the odd lyrics, "secret meeting" is a great song.

bah a few of those songs have been posted here before... oh and I should thank whoever it was a week or two back who linked to the whole Illinois album in response to my complaints lol.

I was kind of hoping to see an mp3 of 'decatur' posted just so that I could link my friends as that track is fantastic.

My favorite tracks so far this summer:
Weird War's awesomely 70s (a la iggy, bowie, t-rex, etc) "Illuminated" and Jamie Lidell's amazing, early soul ode "multiply."

Both MP3's posted on my blog, http://finallywearenoone.blogspot.com/

i just got a single containing !!! (chk chk chk) covering Magnetic Fields' "Take Ecstacy with Me" which is promising :)

And i'm loving the Anka. That in conjunction with the Nouvelle Vague being domestically released . . . cover heaven.

    Robert dean,

Ariel Pink recently performed in Lawrence at the Jackpot. If you're ever passing through Eastern Kansas, it's worth a stop.

    Tsar "Band Girls Money"

you might have heard it on the current Nestle Crunch commercial where a guy at work bites into a Crunch bar and a band pops up in his cubicle.

    "Straight" is good too.

Premature Evaluation: Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul

Pushing Noel off a stage in Toronto might bruise the erstwhile Oasis mouthpiece's ribs (maybe even his spirits) and cause the band to cancel a show or two, but nothing can stop the slow procession toward a new Oasis album....
