Franz Ferdinand Hit The States

Franz Ferdinand are the little band that could. Their album has cracked the top 40 on the Billboard 200, and has sold 350,000 copies in the US so far. "Take Me Out" is #5 on the Modern Rock chart. Take that Seether Featuring Amy Lee!

Karen1+1=1 reports that the Delays will be opening for Franz Ferdinand on the forthcoming stateside gigs! The Delays are awesome and I hear they are great live.

Should we expect an impending FF backlash? I'm sure you're as happy as I am about Franz's success, but do they really have to sell their t-shirts at Urban Outfitters? (They're even $4 cheaper than they are at the shows!)

Anyway "Michael" will be the next U.K. single. It'll have two non-album B-sides "Love and Destroy" and "Missing You."

The fact that they are becoming "mainstream" so fast is a bit disheartening, but maybe we can take this as a sign that the days of bands like Evenescense and Puddle of Mud are numbered.

hey dude. i think "love and destroy" was the bside to the UK "darts of pleasure" single. weird. and furthermore, the delays are awesome and great live... but no joke, the futureheads will rock everyones socks off. theyre like the modern day coming of the jam.... sort of.

I'm hoping so. I've noticed KROCK has been peppering the playlist with more cool bands from "alternative nation 2.0" (as EW would say), but there are still too many Limp/Korn/Puddle holdovers.

Delays are great live, yes. Saw them in Boston on their first stateside gig. They could have only improved by now.

I'm upset about them becoming big, because now if I want to see them, I have to pay $25 to see them at a shitty clearchannel venue with a bunch of all-ages idiots. but i'm still gonna see them. and the futureheads.

Um, "Michael" is already out on UK radio stations as the new single; XFM is playing it steadily, along with older stuff, too.
