The 'Gum Drop Volume XXIII: Hear New Rafter, Win A Pair Of VIP Tickets To Langerado

Rafter Roberts, aka San Diego-based Asthmatic Kitty carrot top Rafter, has been composing a "song a day" after the release of his second full-length Sex Death Cassette. "Fruit," one such catchy nugget of weird, appeared for the first time in this week's Gum Drop. For the occasion, he explained the "love and lust" story behind the song's creation. (Note: It has a happy ending). You can live vicariously through his words while you indulge in Rafter's "Fruit" over here.

On top of the tune, we offered the chance for one winner to nab a pair of tickets/VIP Passes to Florida's sunny Langerado Music Festival, where you can catch R.E.M., the National, Beastie Boys, and dozens of others. Full list after the jump.

March is coming!! We’ve all waited to Langerado Music Festival. Even if this festival is still young it has grown in our minds because of the big entertainment it provides. The festival has changed last year's place to the big Cypress Indian reservation, but I can't change my mind and I'll attend. I prepared myself even what relates to tickets I discovered something interesting. There's a site where to make a comparison of ticket prices for free and book where prices are reasonable:

Enjoy your time and have fun. "Be happy"!!!

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...

Quit Your Day Job: Megafaun

Raleigh-via-Eau Clair BTW Megafaun debuted impressively earlier this year with Bury The Square. The trio nip-and-tuck experimental tendencies (tape splicing, white noise colliding with banjo, junkyard-laced spring reverb, screeching feedback at the tail end of a quiet back porch lament)...

Premature Evaluation: of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

Skeletal Lamping is anything but skeletal. When we took a close listen to album closer "Id Engager" we mentioned it wasn't the strangest, most ambitious, or best tune on of Montreal's new one, but after absorbing the other 14 tracks,...
