The 'Gum Drop Volume XXVI: Hear New Colin Meloy, Win A Gibson Epiphone Guitar
In April, Colin Meloy's releasing his first full-length solo album, the 17-track Colin Meloy Sings Live! (the Morrissey and Shirley Collins collections were EPs). That's a long time to wait, Decemberists fans, so this week's Drop offered a sneak peek via a triumphal take on Picaresque's "We Both Go Down Together," recorded live at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles You can hear it and read Meloy's thoughts behind the song's narrative and what it's like like keeping track of all his words in a live setting over here. i'm not positive, but i believe that decemberists song was recorded at the henry fonda, not the el rey. when they toured for that album, they played at the fonda and it was awesome.
