Google Rock Tour

Been playing around with the creepy cool Google Maps Street View feature? Much fun to putz around on, and while we were definitely not looking up the ex's front door to see if it was still that rosy shade of "go away," Rock Daily put the stalker aid to an enviable use: Google Rock Tour! Amongst the locations on their list is one we know well: Paul's Boutique at the corner of Ludlow and Rivington in the LES (it's a diner; great brunch, but beware -- no home fries)...

And, one we've visited but once...

The Grateful Dead's place at 710 Ashbury in San Fransisco, CA. (Tip: Appropriate as it may seem they really don't like kids smoking joints out front and will probably have you arrested unless you're hanging out with one of your charming can-talk-the-white-off-rice friends.)

Straight ahead you'll see 169 Ave. A in New York City's East Village, better known as Hi-Fi, watering-hole of the Hold Steady and Stereogum's unofficial off-hours HQ.

Down nine streets and two avenues to the west, we have the famed site of the now defunct CBGB, at 315 Bowery. And look, the marquee's back!

So this is where we end and you begin. Dig up the address of your favorite rock landmark, grab the link and post in the comments. Make sure to explain the significance of the address, too, 'cause we aren't all as smart as you. Bon voyage.

This isn't a rock landmark, but it's funny

Sadly, Paul's Boutique is no more. That place went downhill as soon as they switched owners, hired a new staff, and painted the entire inside in an awful explosion of graffiti-esque blobs, in an apparent attempt to be cool.

It's now something called the Three Monkeys and as far as I'm concerned is the most obnoxious looking business in the neighborhood, right up to par with THOR. They have like a dozen signs cramped up in just about every spot they can find, "AWESOME KABOBS" "BEST SHWARMA EVER" or some other bs like that in big yellow letters, etc.

I thought Paul's Boutique was in Brooklyn? That's what the guy said in the intro...

Yeah seriously though the brunch at Paul's Boutique was amazing and my fave alternative to Freeman's. It was more than just a novelty, the pancakes were some of the best. I'm boycotting Three Monkeys as a result... I can't believe they didn't leave a sign or anything.

Paul's Boutique was never a real place - they set it up for the photo shoot (and, for the record, was actually on the south-EAST corner, across the street from the glory-hunting Paul's Boutique food place, which opened more than a decade later and was--the real giveaway to their fakedom--on the SW corner).
