Gwen Stefani In Da House

Things are a little crazy downstairs. Gwen is performing on TRL and the girls in my office are cooing at the TV. Here's their running commentary...

  • "She's sooo fit."
  • "How does she dance in those shoes?"
  • "Her hair's so damaged it's not even funny. I just read an article..."
  • "I think she's using a guide vocal."
  • "They bleeped 'ho'?"
  • [Blake gives the finger to the screen when Carson Daly appears.]

The Harajuku girls are freakin' me out. Anyway, tune in to MTV before 6pm ET if you wanna hear snippets from four cuts off her forthcoming solo jawn, leaking soon on a P2P server near you!

i gotta say, the exact same commentary ran through my head. am i the only one who used to love gwen but now suddenly find her the most obnoxious person ever? maybe i'm just growing up, or my nerves are wearing thin.

I dunno -- it's like two extremes. I love Whatcha Waiting For but Harajuku Girls is just soooooo bad it's evil.

Wow, not a single "like" in their um, profound commentaries. Unless you omitted them, of course.

I was crazy enough to stand out in the 30 degree weather last night in front of TRL screaming my head off for her. Haha, maybe I wasn't that crazy but she did look and wave at me, because I had a giant sign that read: "It's Cold Out Here, let me in!" hahah.... no luck there.

People hear you talkin like that

At least Gwen isn't selling out. She's being creative and different. I have to admit ti is sometimes a little strange but you have to give her respect for taking such big risks. Something has to happen to pull music out of the horrible R&B/Rap shithole it has turned into. Gwen seems like she is at least trying to put types of music together that haven't been mixed before. I love the outfits she's been sporting, ridiculous but fun. Who really cares what she wears? Gwen would look good even if she was dressed in a trash bag.

I don't know why everyone keeps telling her to "find her band", she's still the lead singer of No Doubt, it's called a "solo project". It's a creative outlet for her. She writes half of No Doubts songs, and she wrote most of her solo album too. If you don't like this, how can you like NO Doubt?

Her record is different from previous records with her band, but isn't that the point of going solo? I don't consider this creative project a failure by any means. A failure is when you don't have the balls to try something new. (Nick Lachey and that dark haired loser from 'N sync are perfect examples of people who failed to find their own voice- at least Gwen is trying to be original.
