Hairdresser On Fire
If you're a Smiths fan you should pick up this book. The main character is named Johnny Marr and he tries to kill a guy named Morrissey. It was written in 1948. (Link via MarcEye.)

one copy left at Barnes and Noble last night - bought it, can't wait to read...
I've actually been meaning to get into early noir/hard-boiled fiction for a while now...ever since I got over my Godard fix and turned my eyes back towards America in black and white.
thanks for the reference Scott - always looking out for the unkowing masses.
Now, onto Smiths gossip - I just bought the Mojo/Q Smiths Special Ed. and it says nothing about the coincidence of names - what gives?

That's funny because "Hairdresser on Fire" could easily be a title of a Smith's song. Girlfriend in a Coma, Death of a Disco Dancer....same diff.

hairdresser on fire is the name of a morrissey song.

Well, Johnny Marr isn't his real name, right? So conceivably it's not a coincidence.

does anyone know if there is a band called "Hairdresser on Fire" ?
my friends and i are starting a band and want to reference Morrissey, but soooo many of his songs have been used by people (i.e. Girlfriend in a Coma, Pretty Girls Make Graves) so we want to make sure we don't do that. :)
thanks guys!
