It's being compared to Pi, Memento, and 2001. primermovie.com.

NY Times likes it a lot. Opens today in NYC and Dallas.

Dallas seems arbitrary as a second location. Why not, say, NASHVILLE you dirty film people?!

(because I'd like to see it)

I saw it at the Toronto Film Fest last month. I thought it was pretty good. Review here:

They should call it "Done." That word is now burned into my brain. Sucky trailer. The plot seems like an overblown Donnie Darko-esque movie.

I wish I was lucky enough to live in a "select city." It will probably be 8 months or so before this ever gets released to dvd. Anyway I wanna see it, it looks different at least.

I saw it a while back. I thought it was good, although I'm not sure why. It was convoluted to the point where it ceased to make any sense. I don't remember ever seeing a film where by the end I had *no idea* what was going on. But it was done with enough atmosphere and skill that I at least felt like something interesting or profound was going on (even if it wasn't). I'd like to see it again. But I'm glad it was no longer than it was.

Having said that, I thought it was really well shot, in a cold minimalist kind of way. I thought the acting was pretty good, and it really did have a spontaneous air about it, like you were a fly on the wall watching it happen. Unforunately, like what a fly on the wall must feel like, I felt a bit confused by what these strange humans were doing and why.

Oh yeah, I remember the sound design was awesome. Almost Lynchian.

I saw it at the Seattle International Film Festival this spring and liked it. I pretty much agree with maxinquaye's assessment -- even if it hadn't cost less than $10,000 to shoot the film looked and sounded fantastic. While I think I "got" the convoluted plot, I'd definitely want to see it again before making any final calls on what happened.

I'd say it's definitely worth your ~$10 to see it for yourself.

My guess about why Dallas is a "select city" is that the guys who made the movie are from Austin.

Then they should have shown it in Austin.

Also, there's an Angelika theater in Dallas. Same company as the famous Angelika in New York City. That may be a reason why.
