Has Led Zeppelin Chosen Its New Singer? Earlier this week, everyone agreed that it was a brilliant idea for Pagey, Jonesy, and Bonzo Jr. to tour without Robert Plant. Billboard suggests that "Zeppelin"'s new singer may be Miles Kennedy of Alter Bridge, the rebranded band that formed when Scott Stapp left Creed. At least it's not Leona Lewis?

Who's Chris Robinson?

If anyone wants to try me, I've been singing zeppelin note-for-note since high-school. That was a long damn time ago, and I can still sing circles around most of these young pups with sawdust in their voices. Anybody got a digital video camera in Milwaukee? Youtube here I come. Let's rock.

Is this Halloween trickery by Billboard? This isn't funny. Not funny at all.

I say pull Paul Rodgers from his Queen duties and put some Firm songs in the setlist. That would be worlds better than this.

I nominate the lead singer of all female tribute band Lez Zeppelin, whose name is "Sarah." It would be like Judas Priest or that movie "Rock Star." (Say hi to ya mutha for me.)

That may be the most Horrible thing I've ever heard. The idea of no Robert Plant is really lame, now this shit. Scott Stapp is the biggest tool of all time.

Even worse, it isn't Scott Stapp, it's his replacement. On a totally unrelated note, I can't wait till Ringo and Paul tour with Gary Cherone and William DuVall.

Why is this horrible. Robert issued a statement through his website a few weeks back saying he was not touring with anyone for 2 years and wished Led Zeppelin bandmates well.
So I say bring it on guys!. Let it be "LOUD!"

I just think it is horrible because the reason the band originally broke up was the loss of John Bonham. That was a pretty classy move and this is the opposite.

Having anyone, especially someone lousy, sing the songs that Plant wrote is pissing on the legacy of Led Zeppelin. I'd rather see them play the instrumentals than have some stand-in pretend to be Robert plant.

I thought the surviving members showed quite a bit of integrity up until now. Page & Plant wouldn't call themselves "Led Zeppelin" when they toured without JPJ in the 90's. Page & Jones should show the same level of courtesy now, instead of trying to obviously cash in on the band's name.

FUCK THAT. zeppelin are barely zeppelin without bonzo. touring without robert plant is a huge mistake. they don't deserve to tour under the name led zeppelin if they do; it's just plain wrong.

Having grown up on Zep made me go out and see both Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes and the Page/Plant tour......been waiting to see a proper reunion (if you can call it proper without Bonzo) But if they tour calling themselves Led Zeppelin minus Plant then Im staying home and burning my Zep albums. Though keeping my Zep cd's for my 12 yr old really digs them. Though he agrees with me about not seeing them. And thats a 12 yr old who knows better...................do they?!?!?

This is a pissing contest.
They are entitled to do whatever they want.
You think it is the wrong thing to do, stay away.
Remember it was always been about making a living that allowed them to do what they creatively like, and compared to a lot of bands they had a usually stable line up all their existence, which something the Beatles and the Rolling Stones can't claim. They booted members that failed to perform up to spec.
BUT
Robert Plant is entitled to not tour and if you are of the opinion that his elected absence is crapping on the Led Zep fans, that's your problem. Although selling a band line up without Plant is going to be one tough sell if they don't deliver solid performances, and really strong album before going on tour.
Maybe what you really should question is the blatant cynicism in cashing in on the memory of a band that hasn't worked together for almost thirty, even if all members were able tour, because they most likely need the money.

BrotherBob, Keep your albums if they elect to tour without Plant. They souveirs of your youth that provided pleasure and will continue to do so, if you don't let what happens today mess with your memories.

God Bless Robert Plant! He didn't squander his money on heroin, divorces and parasitic friends and business acquaintances and rumor has it he stays in inexpensive motels when on tour with Allison Krauss. He isn't desperate for cash and has no need to sully his Golden God image with the scent of Ben Gay. Sometimes wealth provides a cushion for some integrity.

Regards,

Robbie Williams

How crazy would Miles Kennedy be? To leave a fucking great live band and to start singing (not guitar playing) with a Led Zeppelin coverband. He would only be the toy of the much elder original members and he would loose his influence. Zep should just quit, they've had their time. It's time for the real music

It seems pretty strange to tour with anyone but Plant. That's like Rolling Stones touring with the Buckcherry guy instead of Mick Jagger.

It's a sad day when this Myles Kennedy character is connected in anyway to Led Zeppelin - http://www.evri.com/person/myles-kennedy-0x23f36.html

Robert Plant IS touring. He's out there doing the RAISING SAND tour. When that is finished, and some time off...two years.. he would tour with the mighty ZEP. He said he didn't want to do the Zep thing for two years. Sounds reasonable. So if everybody is on board, and they don't want to wait, I'm pretty sure DAVID LEE ROTH is available.

Plant can't scream the higher notes like he used to. Guitars and instruments seem to not lose their voice. Sad that Plant is suffering being the cause of the substitution, but I'd rather not pay and hear Plant detuning the old zep standards to match his new vocal range. What about the kids that sang on the zep set tribute album that bonzo jr did a decade ago? One of them was just too quick, singing off time, but otherwise he was a workable substitution for plant. DLR already HAS a gig.

henk beerendonk,

Technically, whoever owns the name can call any group of supporting musicians Led Zeppelin.
Bands are a business, partners and employees that leave or get fired get replaced to keep the business going. There have been and will continue evolve that have no original members or their famous, hit making line up.

As long as there deliver a crowd pleasing live set and, or album of new recordings of good songs, the business carries on.
Yes, the band will be different without Plant, but it’s going to be somewhat different anyway because of how long it’s been since they last performed, unless they go out as an oldies act slavishly reproducing their past performances. Your stance is a bit more generous than those that think they shouldn’t get together at all because they don’t want their memories of Led Zeppelin’s seventies performances and output tarnished because they grown older and possibly wont live up to their expectations.
