Honey, Apple Shrunk The iPod

Apple has introduced the iPod Nano, which brings the iPod one step closer to being a microchip you get implanted in your brain.

Hand holding an iPod nano

For those of you wondering, "What does this have to do with Kanye?" ... Engadget liveblogs the unveiling:

1:07pm - New Harry Potter iPod - has the crest engraved on the back.

1:08pm - Other exclusive: Madonna. All 15 albums available by album and by song. Steve is calling Madonna on iChat AV.

1:09pm - Madonna to Steve: "I got tired of not being able to download my own music." Steve: "Do you have an ipod?" Madonna: "Of course I do! that's so dumb! Every time I get one a new one comes out the next week."

...

1:55pm - Kanye West: "I’d like to thank Steve Jobs for still letting me perform."

1:58pm - Kanye just dissed Bush again.

Two and four gig capacities. Replacing the mini. Is that good? The mini is four gigs, right? And this nano is half the thickness? Neat-o. But as someone said... what about that battery life?

ok i will sound too nerdy but how the hell can they get the battery life. i know that they are using these lithium batteries that are thin sheets of material. But hell you can only get so much capacity out of them. the answer may be in the chips (IC's) that they are using. the newer advanced ones draw less power due to smaller active device sizes...
ok i am a friggin nerd sorry.....
the gum rules in my book! :-)

How do they get the battery life? They're switching from hard drives to flash memory. That's huge. No moving parts.

chzplz.....good point and better answer than mine.... must have to be flash since it is so thin..... forgot about the harddrives. Thanks for correcting!

Apparently the new advert with Madonna uses "Pappa Don't Preach".

No idea why, though.

What the hell were the Joggers/their producer thinking?? Their first album with the barber harmonization was such a great departure from the general drony indie vocals. It sounds like the old joggers are trying to play through layers of cheesy halfwit electro production. I don't get why they would take such a unique and catchy sound and play it through the trendy electro zeitgeist trend.
